Jacksonville Breakers Women's Ice Hockey Team: Welcome
The Jacksonville Breakers are a women's ice hockey team in Jacksonville, Florida. We play at ICE (formerly Skate World) at I-95 and Emerson Street. We welcome all women age 18 or above to come and join us!
Mission Statement: Continue to grow women’s recreational and competitive ice hockey in North Florida and South Georgia in a positive and fun atmosphere.
Founded in 1997, the Jacksonville Breakers are part of the Florida Women's Hockey League (FWHL). We are an all women amateur ice hockey team, playing house league games at Jacksonville ICE (located at I-95 and Emerson Street) and traveling to tournaments for games against other FWHL teams from around Florida. Currently, there are 14 teams competing in the FWHL.
In our inaugural season in the FWHL (2003/2004), we finished with a record of 11-1-1. Moving up to the "C" division for the 2004/2005 season, we finished with a winning record of 7-5-4 and won the League Championship title in February 2005. For the 2005/2006 season, we expanded our coverage in the FWHL by fielding players not only in the "C" division but also in the "Rec" division. Currently, we have a team in the "Rec" division.
All levels of players are welcome to join the team from beginner to experienced. The only requirement is that you are a woman above the age of 18. Our members come from a variety of backgrounds, and we encourage women of all ages, with or without experience, to join us! We are especially looking for women that have either ice or inline skated, or played ice hockey or roller hockey, that would enjoy playing competitive and fun ice hockey. But don't let the fact that you've never skated before deter you from trying. Some of our players learned from scratch how to ice skate and play hockey at the same time!
