Cherry Hill Girls Tournament, June 6-7, 2009

vs. Seneca Dynamite (0-7)
vs. Highland Destroyers (1-5)
vs. West Deptford Storm (1-7)

One, Two, Three, Four, we don't care about the score! We really don't!

Every one of the girls played awesome against three TOUGH South Jersey Olympic teams this weekend at Cherry Hill. That's equal to Premier in MOSA. Two flights higher than the Strykers played this spring. All three teams were physical, fast and skilled. Since the games were faster and the Strykers just haven't played at that level, they made mistakes that just can't be made against Olympic teams. South Jersey took full advantage. Many of the goals were from outside the 18 and high in the corners.

With that said, this weekend was about fun. The girls never let the scores beat them and made all the teams work for every goal. They played hard every minute and never gave up. There were some awesome moves made and balls won by every Stryker. The passing was awesome and they continued to work as a team. Defenders played up front, forwards played back, there were first time keepers and some girls had more playing time than normal. The scores could have been higher if Jackson didn't have some excellent goalkeeping (regular and not-so regular). They also didn't have as much luck gettin in the net. All three teams had great defenders.

The girls should be proud of these games even though they didn't win. It shows how hard they have worked and how far they have come since last fall. It was a great tournament against some great teams. A good warm-up for the move to National 1 in the fall.

Manalapan Memorial Day Tournament, May 22-25, 2009:

vs. Arsenal SC- Mallias (1-1)
vs. BOM PAL Heartbreakers (2-1)
vs. Americans Strikers (1-4)
vs. Arsenal - Slattery (6-0)

The Strykers first match of the tournament was against the Arsenal-Mallias. Millias plays in the B Flight of Northern Counties which is equal to MOSA National 1. The teams were well matched it was a typical National 1 game. Marisa scored off a beautiful pass from Tara. Arsenal was only able to get one in the net.

There was a little confusion on the parents side about who the girls were playing in their second game. Some of us thought the girls were playing BOM and others thought it was a PAL team. Question answered and we were all right because it was the BOM PAL Heartbreakers! The Heartbreakers are a MOSA National 4 team. The Strykers had a slight edge in this game and at the final whistle it was 2-1 in favor of the Strykers. Goals were scored by Rachel and Daniella, who blasted a shot at the keeper so hard it was dropped, rolled between her legs, over the line and into the goal.  The Heartbreakers were also only able to get one in the net.

Sunday's first match was against the Americans-Strikers who play in the C Flight of Northern counties, equal to MOSA National 2. Unless they had some great guest players, these Strikers should be flighted higher than Arsena1-Millias in Northern Counties. I didn't get to see much of this game but I was told that all of the Americans' goals were high shots from far out that went over our keepers' heads. None of them could have saved those shots.  Marisa scored the only Stryker goal in this game.

Jackson ended this weekend with a match against the B team from Arsenal. Slattery plays in Flight F of Northen Counties which would be equal to MOSA National 5. It was clear from the start that the Strykers would dominate this game and they backed off a bit. Yesterday Slattery faced a team that played much more aggressively than was needed and their coach appreciated the fact that our girls didn't feel the need to beat them physically as well. Susie and Tara scored their FIRST STRYKER GOALs!!! Goals were also scored by Daniella, Marisa, Kayley and Anna.

Anisha, Tiarra, Tia, Kim, Kourteney and Kelly all had shots on goal but the opposing keepers did their jobs. Keeper was rotated between Rachel, Marisa, and Tia who did an awesome job with some great diving saves. I think everyone played positions that they don't normally play and had a great time doing it! We had great weather, all the girls played super and had lots of fun!

Wall Fall Classic, October 11-12, 2008: U10G Blue Undefeated Champions with 4 shutouts!

vs. Wall Wolverines (6-0)
vs. Maroons Black (3-0)
vs. TRSA Wave (1-0)
vs. Neptunes Stingrays (2-0)

The Strykers dominated the Wolverines. There were very few shots on the Jackson goal. Tia, Marisa and Susie all took turns as keeper. Kourteney scored 1, Areille had 2 and Daniella had a hat trick. MVP was Anna.

Strykers beat the Maroons Black but I am told they had a GREAT keeper and the score could have been higher. Kourteney scored 2 goals and Arielle blasted a shot that the keeper dropped. Marisa took advantage and tapped it in to make it 3-0. I don't think there were any shots on the Jackson goal. Not sure who played keeper. MVP was Kourteney.

On Sunday the girls beat the TRSA Wave 1-0 in the most competitve game of the weekend. Anna put a shot over the keeper's head. Tia, Marisa, and Arielle shared the goal. MVP was Susie.

The Strykers' ended up 2-0 over the Neptune Stingrays. Anna had an awesome corner kick that got behind the keeper and Marisa tapped it in. Just the way it should be done. Tia had a beautiful pass to Arielle, who put it in the net. Tia, Rachel and Marisa were all in goal but there were very few shots to save. MVP was Daniella.

The girls had some great passing and were really putting all that Coach Baldwin has taught them to work this weekend. All the girls got shots on goal, had awesome passing and were working well as a team. Only 1 MVP award was giving out by each opposing team but each of the 13 Stykers deserved one. It was a great weekend and the results would not have been possible without the awesome effort of all the girls!

Jackson Summer Classic, August 23-24, 2008

vs. LMSA Destroyers (1-0)
vs. Neptune Stingrays (5-0)
vs. Medford Jaguars (0-6)
vs. South Brunswick Tornadoes (0-2)

The Strykers played awesome in the Summer Classic. All the girls played hard and never let up for a second. Goals were scored by Daniella, Kayley, Kourteney, Rachel, Susie, and thier guest player, Felicia, with the help of Anna, Kim, Arielle, Marisa, Paige, Tara, and Tyarra. On Saturday the Strykers' defense allowed very few shots on goal and the Jackson keepers, Arielle & Marisa, saved the few shots that the Destroyers and Stingrays were able to get.

One, Two, Three, Four, We don't care about the score! The girls played hard against the VERY skilled Medford Jaguars but they were just too good (for now). The South Brunswick Tornadoes was a much more even game. The girls had many shots on goal but just couldn't get it in the net. Coach Baldwin hopes that they both come back next year because we want a rematch!!!!!!!!!!!

The girls would like to thank Felicia for guesting. She fit right in and was great in both games. Too bad Edison isn't closer, maybe we could steal her from Milton!!!  : )

The new girls fit right in and played great in their first tournament. We are excited and are looking forward to the new season with a great group of girls, their families and Coach Baldwin!!!!
