Coach's Clinic; Saturday Feb 1st at UIC

 As we continue to prepare for the 2014 season we strongly encourage you to attend a baseball coaching clinic on Saturday February 1st at the University of Illinois Chicago, 901 West Roosevelt. The clinic will be conducted by the baseball staff of the UIC Flames. The hitting portion of the clinic will be presented by NY Mets outfielder Curtis Granderson.
Registration is from 8am until 9am and the clinic lasts from 9am until 4pm. There will be a lunch break from Noon until 1pm. 
The  clinic will cover hitting, pitching, base running, practice organization, coaching philosophy and bunting and will be geared especially for youth coaches.
UIC is offering the clinic free of charge and is also making arrangements for free parking.
 Please share this information with all managers/coaches as well as with any parents We want to take full advantage of this opportunity to improve the quality of instruction we provide to our players.
The clinic is for adult managers and coaches, no players.

General Mills Mobile Food Truck Event

Thursday May 16th

General Mills will visit JRW Thursday May 16th with a mobile food truck at Jackie Robinson Park. The 20 x 25 branded mobile vehicle will provide free food sampling, couponing, consumer giveaways and interactive games.

The General Mills event will take place during the Giants vs Astros game at 5:30 and the Yankees vs Athletics game at 7:30.

Team and Player Picture Day Sat May 18th

Annual team and player picture day will be Saturday May 18th at Jackie Robinson Park.

Parents will recieve order forms from their child's coach prior to Saturday and bring the completed order form and payment at the desiganted time for the players team. Payment can be in form of cash, money order, check or debit to the order of VIP Photography.

Pictures will be mailed directly to parents so forms must be completed legibly. There are many affordable packages and a variety of options from which to choose.

Please contcat your childs coach for specific photo time. Please arrive early; all photos wqill be taken between 9am and 11am.

JRW Update


There will be another opportunity to pick up uniforms Monday April 22nd at Jackie Robinson Park stadium near the storage shed behind the left field fence between 6pm and 7:30. Please bring your registration receipt.

If you have not heard from your child's coach regarding the start of practice email your contact information and child's name to jackierobinsonwest@hotmail.com.

The Junior League division (13-14) and Major League division (10-11-12) are filled; registration is closed for those two age groups.

There are limited spots open for Tee Ball 4-5-6 and Minor League division (7-8-9). You can register for those divisions online thru this website.

Private Viewing of Jackie Robinson Film "42" Sat. April 13th 2PM (click here for tix)

JRW players, parents and friends are invited to attend a private viewing of the film "42" which depicts the life of baseball pioneer Jackie Robinson.

The film will be shown Saturday April 13th at 2PM at the Chatam Theater, 210 West 87th. The film is rated PG 13 for language.

All tickets are $10 and must be purchased before Saturday; no sales for this viewing at the box office. Tickets can be purchased online at http://www.active.com/baseball/chicago-il/viewing-of-jackie-robinson-film-42-2013 . Bring your online payment recipt to the Chatam Theater to exchange for movie ticket.

Tickets can also be purchased  Saturday April 6th during registration at Garvey School (103rd- Morgan) between 9am and 11:30am.

This is an excellent opportunity for the JRW family to experience the film together.

We encourage players to wear their baseball jerseys. There will prizes and raffles. Following the film their will be an opportunity for discussion in the theater.

Managers/Coaches Clinic Wed April 3rd; 6:30PM

Managers/coaches clinic will be held Wednesday April 3rd at 6:30pm at the Bo Jackson Elite Sports Dome located at 17130 Prime Blvd in Lockport (exit the I 355 extension at 167th).

Admission is free and all managers/coaches are stronly encouraged to attend.

JRW Spring meeting for managers/coaches and volunteers is Monday February 25th 6:30 - 8:30pm at Beggars Pizza located at 12700 S. Kedzie in Blue Island.

We need to have full participation of all volunteers so we can move into the 2013 season on the same page.

JRW Cardinals Win Illinois U.I. Jamboree

JRW Cardinals win U.I. Jamboree

The JRW Cardinals won the Illinois Urban Initiative Jamboree Sunday at Jackie Robinson Park  with an 11-2 victory over the Horner Park NWLL Yankees. The Cardinals finished the Jamboree with a perfect 5-0 record.

The final four teams to advance to the semi-finals were Gary Metro LL, Horner Park NWLL and teh Rosemoor LL.

Identification Cards to Increase Child Safety

In an effort to increase child safety and "maintain a hostile enviorment" for any persons that seek to harm our children, Jackie Robinson West will mandate all adult volunteers display a league issused photo identification card when working with JRW players during games, practices or any league activity.

Any individual wishing to volunteer with JRW is required to submit a "Little League Volunteer Application" prior to the applicant assuming his/her duties for the current season.

Persons who should display the league issued identification card include:



 Board of Directors

Team parent 

Any other person who provides regular service to the league or has repetitive access or contact with players or teams.

Refusal to submit a fully completed Little League Volunteer Application will result in immediate dismissal from the league.

If a parent observes an adult working with children and not displaying the league issued ID card you should notify a manager, coach or board member.

Identification card photos will be taken at our next league meeting on Thursday March 1st 7PM at Beggar's Pizza, 127th-Kedzie.
