Junior Optimist Baseball / Softball League (JOBL): Welcome

JOBL, affiliated with the Babe Ruth League and Cal Ripken Baseball, uses regulation competitive baseball and softball rules, teaches skills, mental and physical development, a respect for the rules of the game, and basic ideals of sportsmanship and fair play.  In all aspects, JOBL is committed to providing the very best in educational, sports experience possible.  It is JOBL's fundamental belief that every child with a desire to play baseball or softball be afforded that opportunity.

JOBL News!

Congratulations to the 12U Glory and Patriot teams for many great games played in the Cal Ripken Northern California State Tournaments and the USSSA Northern California 12U Softball State Tournament over the fourth of July weekend.  Weekend results posted below; results and updates for future games will be posted as received.


USSSA Northern California 12U State Championships - Manteca:
Game scores:  5-0; 0-4; 7-0; 8-0; 5-2 and 2-5 - 12U Glory finished 3rd in the State!

 

Cal Ripken Northern California State Championships

(all double elimination tournaments)

Woodland:
Concord Blue (7's) - 18-6 win over North Area; 22-0 win over Fremont.
Concord Blue plays 5 PM on 7/8 opponent is winner of tonights game.

Concord Red (8's) - 17-6 win over Galt; 9-8 win over Oakland American.  15-1 win over Concord Blue.
Concord Red play Laguna at 7:30 on 7/8.

Rohnert Park:
Concord 9's:   10-0 win over Washington Manor; 3-1 loss over Elk Grove North; 12-0 win over Woodland - next game: Monday, July 6 v. Galt - 11:30 a.m.

Oakland:
Concord 10's:  begin on Saturday, July 11.

Galt:
Concord 11's: 8-2 win over Washington Manor; 11-1 win over Elk Grove South - next game: Monday, July 6 v. Laguna; 4:30 p.m.

Laguna:
Concord 12's:  Drew a bye for first round; their first game, the second round of play, will be against Laguna at 11:00 a.m., Sunday, July 12

playing 7/7 Rohnert Park at 7:30 (tonight)

Babe Ruth Softball Regional Tournaments - Reno, Nevada - July 16-19

Glory 8's, 10's, 10's2 and 12U will be traveling to Reno to play teams from Northern California, Central California, Southern California, Arizona, Nevada and Utah.  Winner of the 12U regional will advance to the World Series to be held in Wilson, North Carolina August 4-13.

2009 "Athlete of the year"
Lea Cavestany
will be throwing out the first
pitch at opening ceremonies

 
   
 
 

One of the most dynamic two-way
threats in the East Bay, Cavestany
led the Minutemen from her shortstop
position. The Oregan State bound
standout finished the regular season
with a .587 batting average, 30 RBI,
11 doubles, 10 triples, and 5 home runs.
