Important Information:  Little League Age Determination Amendment (Baseball ONLY)
Beginning this season, Little League International has made a change on baseball age determination which impacts players between the ages of 4 and 9.  Any player born on or after January 1, 2006 who will turn the ages of 4-9 during the 2015 calendar year will be eligible to participate in a local Little League program and will use the new age determination date of December 31 (instead of April 30) for the remainder of their Little League Baseball career. This change allows little league to become younger and let players, parents, and leagues use the various age levels of the Little League Baseball divisions to ensure all Little Leaguers are playing in the division that suits his/her skill level the best.  It also ensures that players who were league age 7 for the 2014 season and are now league age 9 for the 2015 season, and have the ability, to transition to the next division.  Click here for the revised baseball age determination chart for the upcoming spring season. There is NO change to the softball age determination chart, which can be found here.
What does this mean?  It means that it is conceivable that a baseball player who would have been league age 8 for the upcoming spring season under the prior system will be league age 9, and therefore, eligible to be drafted into the major baseball division.  Keep in mind that all players who played minor league baseball last spring are required to try out (information will be provided at registrations) to help determine which level they are best suited for.  Parents with players affected by this change should think about which Division they feel is best for their child's baseball development.
