USSSA State Champions
Click on the USSSA State Champions to go to the newspaper article. What a weekend. Mark and I couldn't be more proud of you for all you have accomplished this weekend. Each time we needed it somebody stepped up to take a leaders role. All the way through the line-up. If nothing else remember this "Talent can fail and so can mental toughness at times, but if you have pride in yourself,
you're team, and the program, you are sure to be able to
pull through the tough moments."
GO DEEP !!!!!
I would like to congratulate these girls on their home runs so far this year. Practice pays off big.

Heat Takes 1st At Joplin and Qualified for USSSA W.S.
The girls did a great job in taking home the hardware this past weekend for our season opener. After an unsuccessful attempt in the first game that went 5 innings of ITB the girls didn't give up as was evident in our 11 hr. marathon with only 45 min. off between games 4 & 5 before finishing sat eve. Sun morning we looked sharp as we finished games 7 & 8 to take first place.

It was a a great weekend but hard on Courtney and we wish her a speedy recovery from her stitches in her knee. Our only 2 losses came from the Neb. Echo Renegades who took 5th place in 18u "A" ASA Nationals last year. Great Job Girls.

Commitment
"To succeed as a player, as a leader, as a team, you`ve got to be committed... You`ve got to be willing to pay the price of success... that`s a great big chunk of what teamwork is all about: commitment. Being commited to each other.
Being committed to winning. Being committed to a dream. Commitment makes it happen."

Infield or Outfield
If any of you have read Dot Richardsons book " Living the Dream " you would remember a section in the book where she talks about playing on a much older team when she was only 9 . The coach told her that the team wanted her to play right field for them. She was shocked at the thought...she said she was way to good for right field..and RF was the spot for the "weaker" players. To make it short....she Quickly realized how Important RF was in Fastpitch and the REST ( as they say ) is History .
INFIELDERS SAVE HITS....OUTFIELDERS SAVE THE GAME !!!
Practice
If you are not going to be at a practice I would like an e-mail or phone me as soon as possible because when planning practice it is with the assumption that everyone is going to be there.
Coach
Hold The Rope
Every Year a college team wins the NCAA title. Every year a team wins Nationals. Every year the best team in each division wins the Provincial crown. All of these teams have one thing in common, and contrary to popular belief, gifted, talented athletes is not the answer. No matter how tough it became throughout their season, they did one thing...they held the rope.
What is holding the rope? Imagine you are hanging off the side of a cliff with a drop of 20,000 Feet. The only thing between you and the fall to death is a rope, with the person of your choice at the other end. Who do you know that has the guts to pull you to safety? Who will hold the rope?
If you can name two people that's not good enough because those two people might not be around. The next time your team is together, look around and ask yourself, who could I trust to hold the rope? Then look at yourself and ask the same question--who would I hold the rope for? When you can look at every member on your team and say to yourself that they all would hold the rope, including yourself, you are destined to win a lot of ball games.
No matter what sport you play, in order to win, you have a commitment to your team. If you are supposed to run sprints at the end of practice do it well. If you have to practice do it. Don't just go through the motions because you are wasting everyone's time. Once you start letting up at practice or start missing workouts, you've killed the team because you didn't hold the rope. When you need to take your own time to eat right, sleep enough, or rehab, do it so you can hold the rope when your team needs you. Remember this is a team sport, everyone must be holding the fibers.
Don't let your team down. Don't let yourself down.
Team Rules
No Horseplay Between the Lines!
Fun and games are fine outside the dugout before & after games.
We consider the DUGOUT part of the playing field. Once you enter the dugout, your focus is on the proper execution of your role on the team.
No Derogatory Chants or Cheers
We are a class team. We practice good sportsmanship. We win graciously, and we lose graciously! We do cheers that support our team. We do not do cheers that insult the other team.
When Coach Is Speaking, I Am Listening
Your coaches are your teachers. The practice field is our classroom. Just like regular school, when the teacher is speaking, the students are not. You can't listen and learn if you're talking to a teammate.
This is what team work means to me.
T = Together
E = Everyone
A = Achieves
M = More
Batting Tips Frame By Frame In The News Section
To be the best you can
When you jog to warm up, finish first.
When you stretch, do it best.
When you play catch, throw to a target and hit it every time.
When you play catch, catch the ball or block the bad throw and keep it in front of you every time.
When you are doing a drill, do it perfect, every time.
Go hard all the time. Never walk on a softball practice field.
As a batter/runner run to first as though it matters that you are safe.
