-Graduate of John Curtis Christian School's class of 1991
-Played on state championship teams of 1987, 1988 and 1990 and was runner up in 1986
-Signed a college scholarship with Mississippi State University as a Linebacker.
-Transferred to Tulane University and was granted a 2-year scholarship there where he played under Buddy Teevens.
-Was elected Team Captain in his senior season at Tulane.
-Graduated from Tulane University with a B.S. degree in 1996
-Currently teaches Senior Sociology and Senior Psychology. Is also the school's alumni coordinator.
-Married to former Patriot volleyball player Dawn Cabrera Curtis, who is now the head Patriot volleyball coach
-Has 3 kids: John IV (Jay), Michael, and Jason
-The son of J.T. and Lydia Curtis
