Championship Update!

11-12 MAJOR LEAGUE RANGERS 1 REDS 0 in Eight Innings.

(GAME # 1) Fans, parents, coaches and players left the JBLN park on Monday Night exhaling a loud "WOW!" at the game that just ended. Reds vs Rangers in Game # 1 of the 11-12 Major League Championship Series turned into an instant classic.

Reds pitcher Nathan Moxey pitched a No Hitter through the regulation six Innings while Rangers pitcher B.J.Murray gave up only one hit – and the score was 0-0 after Six, sending the game into extra innings.

In the top of the seventh Murray mowed down the Reds 1-2-3, while Moxey pitched out of bases loaded jam to send the game to the eighth inning. Murray struck out the side in the top of the eighth as the gamed moved to the bottom of the inning. Lead off batter Duante Stuart reached base on an error by the Reds second baseman and then stole second.

However, Moxey proceeded to get the next two batters setting the stage for the dramatic ending.

With 2 strikes on the Rangers Batter Cameron Fox, he lined a double down the right field line and Stuart scored the winning run in walk-off fashion.

Game # 2 is scheduled for Thursday at 7:00 PM

9-10 MINOR LEAGUE (GAME # 1) ASTROS 11 ROCKIES 10

This game resumed with the Score 7-6 and the Rockies leading the Astros. The Rockies built up a 10-6 lead heading to the bottom of the fifth, as the Astros failed to score in the 3rd and 4th.

The Astros scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth to take a 11-10 lead into the sixth and won Game # 1, as the Rockies failed to score in the top of the Sixth Inning.

Game # 2 is Scheduled for Wednesday at 7:00 PM

JUNIOR LEAGUE  (GAME # 1) In less dramatic fashion, the Dodgers took a 1-0 Series Lead with a 13-5 victory over the Rays.

Game # 2 is Scheduled for Wednesday at 5:00 PM

Playoff Update

Play-Off Games in the Junior Baseball League of Nassau’s got underway on Wednesday with Elimination Games (# 3 vs # 2) were played in Five Divisions. Playoff Elimination games continue on Thursday May 17:

COACH PITCH

Angels 9 Padres 6 Angels advance to play the Diamondbacks in the Championship Series. Game # 1 on Saturday May 19 at 10:00 AM.

MINOR LEAGUE

Rockies 18 Braves 12 Rockies will meet the Astros in Game # 1 of the Championship Series. Game Time – Saturday May 19 at 12:30 PM.

JUNIOR LEAGUE

Rays 8 Phillies 5 The Rays advance to play the Dodgers in Game # 1 of the Championship Series on Saturday May 19 at 12:30 PM.

Crushers 13 Players 12 Crushers move on to play Game # 1 of the Championship Series On Friday May 18 at 7:00 PM vs The Oilers. 

JBLN Completes 2012 Season

The Junior Baseball League of Nassau completed its 2012 Regular Season this past weekend.  

With the exception of a game to be played on Monday May 14 at 5 pm between the Phillies and Twins in the Junior League, regular season play has been completed. This game will determine Third Place in the Junior League and will also determine the # 3 Seed in the Junior League Play-Offs. (Phillies,Twins & Yankees are still eligible.)

Single Game Play Off Eliminations will be held on Wednesday & Thursday this week, with the winners advancing to take on the Pennant Winners in a three-game Championship Series scheduled to start on Friday and Saturday.

JBLN Fundraiser a Success!  

The junior Baseball League of Nassau staged its Annual Family & Fun Day this past Saturday with a Cook Out and activities for the kids, including a Bouncy Castle, Face Painting and Ice Cream for the large number of parents, players and spectators that attended the day-long event.

The large number of spectators who attended the event were able to enjoy themselves as well as watch the 15 Baseball Games and 2 Softball Games that were played.

The highlight of the day was the 7 PM Girls Softball Games between the Sports Centre Players and the Seven Seas Oilers. In, what probably was the most competitive and entertaining game of the day, the teams played to a 10-10 tie after 7 Innings.
