Parent's Tip:

"To excel, your children must must love the game enough to work at it.  Pressuring them to excel can sap that love.  You can nuture this love of playing by noticing and recognizing them for specific things they are doing well." - Play Positive weekly tip at PlayPositive.com

Coach's Tip:

"Maintain a "Majic Ratio" of five truthful, specific praises for every one specific, constructive critism.  It is called the "Magic Ratio" because when coaches get close to it, magical things happen with their players' performance." - Play Positive tip at PlayPositive.com

Southern Regional Championships at Burns Park - Volunteer Opportunies

2015 Regionals

As many of you have heard, the Arkansas State Soccer Association (ASSA) is hosting the Southern Regional Championships at Burns Park this summer from June 18 - 25.  This tournament will bring in 208 teams from across the southeast representing OK, TX, LA, TN, MS, GA, FL, SC, NC, and our state.  There will be around 4500 players plus their parents and siblings coming to our area.  Putting on a tournament of this size takes a massive volunteer effort.  We have over 1,000 volunteer positions that need to be filled.

Below is a link to our volunteer sign up page through Sign Up Genius.  Please share this with the members of your organization.  Help us promote volunteering by posting the link on your websites, Facebook pages, Twitter feeds, etc.

Another way to help is for your organization to claim a particular job function and commit to filling all the times for a particular day.  Perhaps you could commit to providing all the hydration volunteers on Saturday.  Maybe providing field marshals on a set fields for Sunday would work for your group.

We also need help in finding association members whose businesses might be able to help offset some of our rental costs by donating items we need during the tournament.  We need to provide US Youth with two trailers that they can use as their HQ.  They need to be a minimum of 10' x 20' and have power and A/C.  Another need is portable storage containers.  We need at least three (3) to store operational items for the tournament.  We need to provide overnight security at the park.  Do you have any members who own/operate this type of business?

As you can see there are many ways you can help make this even a success.  If you have any questions about the event you can reach me via email at southernregionals15@gmail.com.  You can also reach our volunteer coordinator at 2015regionalvolunteers@gmail.com.

Thanks in advance for your efforts in helping us fill our volunteer needs.
