Letter to Academy Parents from DOC...

First Touch, Micro, and Academy Parents,

First, I would like to thank you for your commitment and willingnes to allow your child to participate in the Jacksonville Soccer Club Spring Season.  The JSC Board and I have received many comments throught emails and by phone from parents who were absolutely thrilled with the games and training their son and/or daughter participated in last Fall.

With the Spring Season soon starting, I wanted to pass along some helpful reminders and information that my help answer any questions you may have.  As we have all witnessed, the weather has created very poor field conditions.  Unfortunately, we had to push back the start of the season.  The new start and end dates are as follows:

* First Touch (U3/4) start 03/28/2015, and will end 05/16/2015 (8 weeks).
* Micro (U5/6) start 03/10/2015, and will end 05/16/2015 (10 weeks).
* Academy (U7/8) start 03/10/2015, and will end 05/16/2015 (10 weeks).

In the future, if there is any doubt training and/or games may be cancelled, you are encouraged to visit the Jacksonville Soccer Club website.  Their you will be able to view field status, as well as practice schedules.  Parents and/or guardians will also receive an email or text from their player's head coach informing you of any changes or issues that may arise throughout the Spring Season.  Each head coach is as follows:

* First Touch - Adam Miller
* Micro - Walter Delp
* Academy - Russell McCollom and Sergio Convers

You will be contacted by email or text within the next day or two by your child's head coach reguarding schedules, games, dress, etc.

Hopefully, this email has answered any questions you may have had.

Lastly, I would just like to thank  you again and hopefully we will get a chance to chat a little out on the soccer fields.

Thanks,
Matt Blair

Southern Regional Championships at Burns Park - Volunteer Opportunies

2015 Regionals

As many of you have heard, the Arkansas State Soccer Association (ASSA) is hosting the Southern Regional Championships at Burns Park this summer from June 18 - 25.  This tournament will bring in 208 teams from across the southeast representing OK, TX, LA, TN, MS, GA, FL, SC, NC, and our state.  There will be around 4500 players plus their parents and siblings coming to our area.  Putting on a tournament of this size takes a massive volunteer effort.  We have over 1,000 volunteer positions that need to be filled.

Below is a link to our volunteer sign up page through Sign Up Genius.  Please share this with the members of your organization.  Help us promote volunteering by posting the link on your websites, Facebook pages, Twitter feeds, etc.

http://www.signupgenius.com/tabs/23675DA06A2C2EDC17-volunteers

Another way to help is for your organization to claim a particular job function and commit to filling all the times for a particular day.  Perhaps you could commit to providing all the hydration volunteers on Saturday.  Maybe providing field marshals on a set fields for Sunday would work for your group.

We also need help in finding association members whose businesses might be able to help offset some of our rental costs by donating items we need during the tournament.  We need to provide US Youth with two trailers that they can use as their HQ.  They need to be a minimum of 10' x 20' and have power and A/C.  Another need is portable storage containers.  We need at least three (3) to store operational items for the tournament.  We need to provide overnight security at the park.  Do you have any members who own/operate this type of business?

As you can see there are many ways you can help make this even a success.  If you have any questions about the event you can reach me via email at southernregionals15@gmail.com.  You can also reach our volunteer coordinator at 2015regionalvolunteers@gmail.com.

Thanks in advance for your efforts in helping us fill our volunteer needs.

Tournament Director
