Little League of the Islips: Scholarship Application 2016

The Little League of the Islips College fund was established in 2004 and offers four scholarships to former Little League players who are going to pursue college careers and have shown success on the field, in the classroom and in the community. 

Four scholarships will be awarded—two in the Islip School District and two in the East Islip school district—to college bound high school seniors. Both High Schools will have one male and one female award recipient. 


Scholarship Award:
The recipients of this award will be selected by a committee consisting of Islip Little League Board members.

Scholarship Amount:     $500.00 will be awarded to each recipient. 

Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible for this award, the recipients must meet the following criteria:
1)      Be a graduating senior who attends Islip or East Islip High School with a GPA of at least 80%
2)      Be a good citizen whose spirit exemplifies effort, determination and persistence in being known as a “Team Player”.
3)     Must have played in the Islip Little League for at least four years. 

Support Documentation: 
The following must be submitted. 
1)   The Application completely filled out. Including a 150 word essay entitled “What Islip Little League Has Meant To Me.”
2)   A minimum of (2) “Letters of Recommendation” written by a Teacher, Guidance Counselor or an Islip Little League Coach.
3)    High School transcript. 

Submission of Candidates:
Candidates must submit Application and Recommendation sheets by date on application. (see attached): 
Islip or East Islip Guidance Department

Award Announcement:
Award recipients will be notified directly. A public announcement will be made at the
recipients’ school on Awards Night.
