Congratulations to the Davenport Southwest 9-10 year olds and the Davenport East 11-12 year olds as they won their respective divisions in the District Softball finals last night in Burlington.
In the 9-10 year old division Davenport Southwest defeated Davenport East 6-3.
In the 11-12 year old division Davenport East defeated Davenport Southeast 11-0.
Both teams begin play for the state title in Boone on July 18. Good luck to both teams in their quest for a state title.

Wednesday, July 8
The softball finals in the 9-10 year old division are set. Davenport Southwest won the pool and will play Davenport East in the finals. In their earlier meeting Southwest won 4 to 1 in a great game. Game time is 5:30 on Friday night.
Come out and watch what promises to be a great conclusion to the 9-10 year old district tournament.
Thursday, July 9
As of the completion of play tonight here is what I can confirm.
The champion of Pool A is Davenport Southeast. The champion of Pool B is Burlington National. Pool C has 3 teams that still have a chance to advance to the second round and no matter how the games end up tomorrow at least 2 of those teams and possibally all 3 teams will have a 3 and 1 record. This means that the runner-up will also come out of this pool.
If Davenport Northwest defeats Dubuque North tomorrow night then Northwest will be the pool champion at 4 and 0 and Davenport North will be the runner-up at 3 and 1 and they will both advance to the semi finals. If Dubuque North defeats Davenport Northwest then Dubuque North, Davenport Northwest and Davenport North will all have identical 3 and 1 records. At that point since none of the 3 teams beat the other two teams we will look at runs allowed and eliminate the squad with the highest runs allowed. The remaining two teams will be looked at based on their Head to Head play since each of the 3 teams did play each other. The winner of the Head to Head match-up will be the pool champion and the loser of the Head to Head match-up will be the runner-up. The 3 pool champions will then be seeded 1 thru 3 and the #1 seed will play the #4 seed and #2 seed will play #3 seed.
Thursday, July 9
In the 10 - 11 year old division hear is what we know as of now. The pool B champion is Davenport Southeast with a 3 and 1 record. Davenport Northwest could also be 3 and 1 with a win on Friday but since Southeast defeated Northwest on Wednesday Southeast advances. Northwest would be the runner up and #4 seed.
The Pool C champion is North Scott. No matter what the outcome of tomorrows game is they will finish at worst with a 3 and 1 record which would be best in the pool. The winner of tonights Dubuque North vs Dubuque South game would still have an outside chance to advance as the pool runner up if they end up 2 and 2.
In pool A all teams are still mathematically in the running. If Davenport East wins tomorrow night then they are the pool champion. If East losses then all three teams will end up 2 and 2 and the team with the lowest runs allowed would be declared the pool champion.
If Davenport Northwest is defeated on Friday then as many as 6 teams could still end up with a 2 and 2 record. The team with the lowest defensive average would then be the runner up and #4 seed. IF THAT IS THE CASE YOU WILL JUST HAVE TO STAY TUNED.
Thursday, July 9
In the 11 - 12 year old division we know the following at this time. Burlington American is the winner of Pool B. The Pool runner up will be between Dubuque North and Davenport East if Davenport East wins it's game on Friday. If Davenport East wins Friday night they will be the pool runner-up by virtue of their victory tonight over Dubuque North. If East losses then Dubuque North will be the pool runner up.
Pool A is a little more complicated. If Davenport Northwest wins tomorrow night they are 4 and 0. If Davenport Southeast defeats Burlington National tomorrow night then Southeast would also be 4 and 0 and the pool champion would be decided by the team with the lowest runs allowed and the team with the higher runs allowed would be the runner up.
If Davenport Northwest wins tomorrow night and Burlington National defeats Davenport Southeast, Burlington National would be the runner up with a 3 and 1 record based on their defeat of Davenport Southeast.
If Davenport Northwest losses and Davenport Southeast defeats Burlington National, Davenport Southeast would be 4 and 0 and the pool champion and Davenport Northwest would be 3 and 1 and the runner up.
If Davenport Northwest losses and Burlington National defeats Davenport Southeast then all 3 teams would be 3 and 1 and since they did not all play each other we would look at runs allowed. The team with the highest runs allowed would be eliminated and the remaining two teams would represent pool A. If the remaining two teams played each other then the champion would be determined by the winner of the Head to Head match up. If they did not play each other the team with the lowest runs allowed would be declared the pool champion and the other team would be the runner up.
Wednesday, July 8
As of 3:15 this afternoon North Scott, Davenport Northwest and Davenport East have canceled there games for this evening. The schedules have been updated for all parks in Davenport and North Scott and can be seen by going to the Schedule section and clicking on the appropriate age group.
Davenport Southeast, Davenport Emeis, and Davenport West have also cancelled tonights games.
You will notice that two of the games at North Scott will start @ 5:00 pm. North Scott has a city event at the park that evening so they have requested that the games be played as early as possible. I am not going to ask the leagues in Dubuque to play earlier due to their travel time.
