Opening ceremonies for both the tournaments will

be held at 9:00.  Please note the Change.

Due to rain in the area the opening ceremonies have been pushed back to Sunday Morning.  A time for the opening ceremonies will be determined on Saturday after we see how the schedule plays out with the forcasted Rain.  If all games are played on Saturday Opening ceremonies for the 9-10 year olds will be at 11:30 am and at 9:00 am for the 11-12 year olds.  If one or more games are rained out times will be adjusted.

The baseball finals are set in all three age groups. 

In the 9 - 10 year old division today it was Davenport East 13 and Davenport Southeast 10 in one game and Burlington National 9 North Scott 3 in the other game.  The finals will be tomorrow at 3:00 pm between Burlington National and Davenport East at Davenport East Little League.

In the 10 - 11 year old division today it was Burlington American 6 and North Scott 5 in the first game and Davenport Southeast 7 and Davenport Northwest 0 in the second game.  The finals will be played tomorrow at Noon at Davenport North between Burlington American and Davenport Southeast. 

In the 11 - 12 year old division today it was Davenport Northwest 7 and Burlington National 6 in game 1.  In the nightcap Davenport East beat Dubuque North 9 to 4.  The finals will be between Davenport Northwest and Davenport East tomorrow at 6:00 at East Little league.

Come out and support your favorite team. 

The 11-12 semi finals are set for Saturday at Davenport East.  In the 3:00 game Davenport Northwest will take on Burlington National.  In the 6:00 game Davenport East will play Dubuque North.

 The two winners will play Sunday evening at 6:00 at Davenport East.

The Semi- finals are set for the 10-11 year old division.

At 1:00 on Saturday at Davenport North it will be Burlington American vs North Scott.

At 3:30 it will be Davenport South east vs Davenport Northwest.

The teams are set for the 9-10 semi finals but the pairings will not be completed until the completion of the Burl. Am vs Burl. Nat game tomorrow evening.  Both Burlington Nat. will advance to the finals no matter the outcome.  The second team is still up in the air.  If Burlington Am. wins the game against Burl. Nat. on Fri., American will advance.  If they lose they the tie breaker system will go into effect and the team that is 2 - 2 with the lowest defensive average will advance.  The other two teams advancing are Dav. East who finished 1st in pool B and North Scott Nat. who finished 2nd.  North Scott will play in the 9:00 game and Davenport East will play in the Noon game.

The finals in the 9-10 and 11-12 year old division are set in softball.

Friday night in the 9-10 year old division Davenport East 3-0 will play Davenport SW 2-1 at 5:00 at Victory field in Walcott.

In the second game Davenport SW 2-0 will play Burlington National 1-1 for the district 11 - 12 year old championship.  That game will be approx. 30 minutes after the conclusion of the 9-10 game.

For those of you who would like to keep track of the Pool Stats for your division they will be updated nightly sometime before midnight.  To look at them go to handouts and then select the statement regarding pool stats and it will give you a menu to pick your age group from.

Also if you need to get ahold of a president or manager go to handouts and select the statement regarding either Presidents or Managers and Coaches.   

Once every 3 years each Little League district must have an election for District Administrator.  This year is the year for the election of a district 2 administrator.  It has been my pleasure to serve this district for the last 9 years.  I do intend to run again for the position.  If anyone else would like to run for the position please let me know so I can include that individual in the meeting agenda.  The election will take place on June 28th at the end of the tournament meeting.  Each league receives one vote to be cast by the League President or their appointed designee.  I look forward to seeing everyone at the meeting.

Iowa District 2

The dates have been set for the Start of the District Tournament games in each age group.

9/10 Softball                               Begins July 7 and will be completed July 14

11/12 Softball                              Begins July 7 and will be completed July 14

9/10 Baseball                               Begins July 7 and will be completed July 13

10/11 Baseball                              Begins July 7 and will be completed July 13

11/12 Baseball                              Begins July 7 and will be completed July 13

The tournaments on the boys side for the 9/10 and 11/12 will be a modified pool play format with 2 pools.  Each team will play 4 games and the top two teams from each pool will play in a single elimination final.  The 10/11 year old district will be a pool play format with 2 pools and each team playing 3 games.  The top two teams in each pool will advance to a single elimination final.

The tournaments on the girls side for the 9/10 and 11/12 will be a pool play format with 1 pool.  Each team will play 5 games in pool play and the top two teams will play one game to determine the championship.

The pairings will not be available until the coaches meeting which will be Saturday morning June 28th at 10:00 am at the Clarion Hotel in Davenport.  This is a mandatory meeting for at least one member of each tournament team and the league president their representative.

Remember that ALL STAR teams may not be announced Prior to this Sunday.  Announcing ALL STARS prior to Sunday could result in loss of tournament priviledges for all tournament teams in your league. 

Davenport Northwest has been selected as the site for the 2008 State Championships for baseball in the 9-10 year old division and the 11-12 year old division.  

The tournament will begin on Saturday July 19th and run through Thursday July 24.  There will be a number of special events going on for the kids and their families during tournament week.  After Saturdays opening round games the teams will be treated to a night with the Quad City River Bandits.  They will be introduced on the field prior to the game.  On Sunday, after the conclusion of play Golicks Meat Market will provide a picnic for all the players coaches and families.  The picnic is being sponsored by Lujack's.

Other events and specials are being planned throughout the week. 

The championship games on Thursday night will be televised by Medicom.

The tournaments will be a pool play format with the top two teams playing in the finals on Thursday night.  The winner in the 11-12 year old division will advance to the Regional Tournament in Indianapolis the following week and will be one step closer to the Little League World Series which begins on August 15th in Williamsport PA.  Winners in the 9-10 year old division conclude international tournament play with the State Tournament.

The semi finals have been set for the 9-10 year old baseball district tournament. 

Saturday at 9:00 am Burlington National will face North Scott National. 

Saturday at Noon Davenport East will play Davenport SE.
