2008 Season Schedule - Mark These Dates in Your Calendar!

In addition to the general season calendar below the Board decided to proactively manage our Board meetings this year around themes or areas of focus. Board meetings are the first Tuesday of each month at 7:30 pm at the Queen Anne Masonic Lodge and all Club Members are welcome to attend – it is recommended that you check the IFC Calendar on the website to confirm the date and time as they rarely but do sometimes change. In addition to the themes we will be discussing business before the Board and your voice as a Club member is always welcome.

Here is the first cut at the Board Meeting themes for 2008. If you have ideas or input of any kind please send it our way:

Annual Meeting of the Members - Was Tuesday, February 5th
At the IFC 2008 Annual Meeting the Board of Directors agreed to increase its size from 7 Board Seat Positions and Four Offices to 9 Board Seats and Six Officers. A great field of candidates was elected to the Board of Directors and I am confident that this leadership team will do tremendous things in helping to grow the Interbay Football Club this year and into the future.

The 2008 Seattle Interbay American Football Club Board of Directors are:

· Ken Cavallon – President

· Quincy Milton II – Vice President

· Mickey Mc Aloon – Treasurer

· Trina Gans – Club Secretary

· Mike Nall – Fundraising Secretary

· Tina Firoozi – Team Parent Secretary

· Alvin Hamamoto – Director

· John Hansen – Director

· Greg Alston – Director

In addition to the officer roles there we are still in need of leadership positions and are seeking people with the Capabilities (know-how), Capacity (time) and Passion (desire) to fill the following roles for 2008:

· Equipment Manager

· Field Manager (practice prep and game day)

· Player Fundraising Manager

· Parent Fundraising Manager

· Concessions Manager

· Merchandise Manager

· Communications Manager

· Family Funday Manager

· Annual Awards Night Manager

Each of these roles will be given the support and guidance they need in order to be successful. In years past too many of these responsibilities have fallen on the shoulders of a small number of Board members and we need more help from the Club membership to make them really successful. Please take a look at the Leadership Roles on the website and come to the next Board meeting to tell us what you’d like to do to make this the best sports club in our community!

Our Mission

The Seattle Interbay American Football Club believes that winning is good, we love to win: never at the sacrifice of sportsmanship & fair play.

The primary purpose of our endeavor is to teach as many kids as possible the skills, teamwork, sportsmanship and fellowship that are gained by learning well the great game of American Football. By winning, we allow each child the opportunity to feel rewarded for their efforts and thus encourage more participation and pride in the work it takes to win.

In contrast we must teach our children how to lose gracefully and in doing so foster an atmosphere where every child, every team wins regardless of the final score. That being said nothing is truer than this; at the end of the day it is not whether you win or lose, it is how you played the game.

Our Primary Recruiting Zone

Serving Queen Anne, Magnolia, Capitol Hill, Madison & Madrona and Downtown we hold the majority of our practices @ the Interbay Athletic Complex between Magnolia and Queen Anne and our Home games are held on Saturdays @ Interbay too! Our primary recruiting zone is in Seattle from the Ship Canal south to Yesler Street and from Lake Washington to the Puget Sound. Ifyou live or go to school in our zone then come play for us!

Leadership Roles & Volunteer Opportunities

Please take a moment to review the leadership and volunteer rolesand if you find that you have the capability, the capacity and the passion to take one then please by all means step up and be counted among the Club’s leaders. We want you!

There are opportunities to get involved at many different levels ? we are looking to fill both leadership positions and individual contributor roles ? the positions below will give you an opportunity to participate at the level of commitment YOU want to give whether its driving a large effort among many people or just taking care of business for a single Club need. Send us an email @
InterbayFootballClub@MSN.com

Safety is our #1 Concern

As always...our number one concern is safety... to that end we not only have the State of the Art Equipment from Riddell Athletics, we make sure that only kids of a similar age and weight play against each other. You can lookup which level your child will participate in by referencing the chart on the
?Pick the Right Level of Play? Page by Clicking Here!

There have been changes to the NJFL age/weight coefficient in order to narrow the age of players competing against each other. Please see the chart
located here for details.

How to Read the Weight Coefficient Chart Below in Four Easy Steps...

1. You'll need to know how much your player weighs (in shorts & T shirt) (We will weigh them in at suit ups and the League will officially weigh them in at Jamboree)
2. Find your child’s age as of August 31st of this year

3. Move to the right until you find a Yellow box that is MORE than your child’s weight
4. Your players level will be at the header on top
(89 = Eighty Niners, M = Midgets, P = PeeWees, B = Bantams, J = Juniors)

For Information please email InterbayFootballClub@msn.com (checked monthly November – February, weekly in March, April & May, daily June - October)

*There are 8 great franchises that make up the Northwest Junior Football League from Everett to Seattle, all holding to the highest standards of youth sports. (Click here to see all of the franchises that make up the NJFL)

We want to make playing Junior Football as an enjoyable experience as possible for youth and their parents alike. Which club your youth plays for is based primarily on your judgment as to what is best for you and your child as well as what's best for the League as a whole. If you'd like your child to play for a club outside of where your child lives or goes to school, please contact either franchise President for details, we'll try to accommodate all reasonable requests as much as possible.
