Pop Warner Little Scholars, Inc. is the world’s largest and oldest youth football and cheerleading organization. The program was founded in 1929 and will be entering our 80th season in Fall of 2009. There are currently 400,000 football players and cheerleaders participating in programs in 41 states and 5 countries and are partners with the NFL and NFL Players Association. Some additional benefits of being associated with Pop Warner include:

A standard set of playing rules for all teams – We publish a Pop Warner rulebook that provides a framework for our football and cheer programs. We have rules in place, such as our Mandatory Play Rule, which guarantee that every player on a roster gets significant playing time every game. We also use the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) rulebook to provide our programs with playing rules. Our National Roster software program, League-One, utilizes our rulebook to create fair, standard and accurate rosters for all Pop Warner teams across the country and is FREE for every Pop Warner league to use. • A league, regional and national playoff structure - Pop Warner is divided into 8 regions across the country, allowing for regional play. Regional winners in our Jr. Pee Wee through Midget divisions are invited to participate in the Pop Warner Super Bowl, held the first week of December in Orlando, FL at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex to compete for a National Championship. Our Cheer programs also hold league and regional championships, culminating in the National Cheer and Dance Championships, held in conjunction with the Pop Warner Super Bowl at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex.

Scholastic Fitness is a requirement to play – Pop Warner is the only youth sports organization to require scholastic fitness to participate. All participants must maintain a 2.0/70% grade point average to participate in Pop Warner. We also recognize our top scholars every year in 5th – 8th grade that maintain a 96% or above average in our Scholastic All-American program. Each scholar athlete who qualifies for our All-American program is placed in our First, Second, or Honorable Mention teams and is mailed a certificate that recognizes their achievement. These scholars are also invited to attend our National Scholastic Banquet, held every May during Memorial Day Weekend, to celebrate these achievements. We also provide college scholarships to our 8th grade First Team Football and Cheer Scholars and have given away over $500,000 in scholarships since 1993. This year, we expect to honor the achievements of 8,000 scholars nationwide.

Reputable Business partners – We partner with reputable businesses such as Russell Athletic, Bike Athletic, Spalding, ESPN, Brax Spirit Cups, Josten’s, Donruss and many others to provide our programs with quality products at affordable prices. Pop Warner also offers yearly grant programs that provide our associations across the country with uniforms, equipment and footballs. Our sponsors and partners are committed to helping develop Pop Warner programs to further youth football and cheerleading initiatives.
