LEVEL 1 & 2

Level 1 certification is required for all hockey coaches.

Level 2 certification is required for all coaching in the Mite and Squirt age groups.

Level 3 certification is required for all coaching in the Pee Wee and Bantam age groups.

Level 4 certification is required for all Tier I & II head coaches.

Level 4 & 5 certification is not available locally, but check out the USA Hockey website for information on dates and locations.

A coach may only take 2 coaching clinics in 1 season. If you are a new coach and will be coaching Squirts, you will need to take both Level 1 and Level 2. If you are a new coach and will be coaching at Pee or Bantam, don’t worry. An exception is made here. New coaches for the Pee Wee and Bantam levels are only required to take Level 1 and 2. If asked, you need only to show your USA Hockey coaching card to show that you met the coaching requirements for the 09/10 season.

Coaches that have their Level 3 certification and do not wish or are not able to go to a Level 4 clinic can take a recertification of Level 3 on-line through the USA Hockey website.

Registration for the coaching clinics must be done on-line on the USA Hockey website, www.usahockey.com. Click on the Coach section and follow the prompts. Also, please complete the IYHA Coaching Application and return to IYHA. If you have trouble registering or need additional information, call Eileen Mills at 317-815-0499.
