2009 Longhorns
Indiana Longhorns are proud to be going into their 5th full season of competitive baseball. Over the past few years we have had great success in the world of travel baseball. The Longhorns are made up of some of the best talent in East Central Indiana. We are based out of Muncie, Indiana which is in Delaware County. Our teams range this season from 8u-14u. We will compete in the Indy Select Baseball League and also play in many tournaments throughout Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky and other surrounding states. Our 12u team for each season travels to Cooperstown, New York. We have competed there three times and in those appearances have fared extremely well with a second place finish in 2005 and 2008 and a third place finish in 2007.
Our organization's philosophy is really quite simple... We strive to expose our players to the proper way to play the game. That ranges from the fundamentals of the game to competing at the top level. We teach kids to play the game always with class; win or lose. We feel that we are preparing them for much more than just baseball. We hope you find our website interesting and that you take the time to check out all of our teams. The Indiana Longhorns 9U team will have on additional tryout on Sunday Oct 11 5pm at the Selma Diamonds. Kenny Estep, who runs the Longhorn organization, will be there to help evaluate potential players for next season. We plan on putting together a nucleus of kids that will start to work out together over this winter. The 9U Longhorns will have another tryout on Saturday Sept 19 from 1-3 at the Selma Diamonds. Everyone that was at the first tryout are asked to attend if possible. The 9U tryouts will be Wed Sept 9th from 6-8pm at the Selma Diamonds. Anyone interested please email IndianaLonghorns@aol.com with name, birthday and contact info. Please fill out the Information form on the handouts tab and bring with you the evening of tryouts. We are pleased to announce that Mark Taylor will be the 9U coach!! Mark brings a lot of knowledge to the Longhorns organization and we are very happy to have him aboard!!

The Indiana Longhorns would like to thank everyone who partici[ated in the 2009 fall tryouts. It has been a very difficult decision-making process with so many talented kids. The following will be our 2009 Fall rosters for the 10U 11U and 12U teams. We will continue through the fall working out and playing some games. At the end of fall this will be a time for coaches, parents, and players to evaluate the situation and see if it is a fit for everyone involved. At anytime throughout the fall, players may be given a committment letter by their coach. This will indicate the child is being offered a spot for the 2010 season. At that time you can accept a spot or decline based on your experience throughout the fall. The cost for fall Longhorns will be $100. Please bring this as soon as possible. Make checks payable to Indiana Longhorns.

Parents should arrive at 11:30 for a manditory parent meeting. All players should arrive at 11:30 am for batting practice. Wear White pants and black tryout shirt.

The Indiana Longhorns will be holding tryouts for the 2010 season. All tryouts are open to any boy that meets the age requirement. April 30th is the birth date age of record. Your child’s age on April 30, 2010 is the age or older he will qualify for the 2010 season.
The Longhorns pride themselves in offering a quality organization with some simple goals in mind. We want to get each child to the next level in all aspects of the game. Not only do we teach baseball the way it is supposed to be played physically, we teach the mental part of the game as well. All of our kids learn to play with class and respect while still being very competitive. I believe you will find that your child will greatly benefit from the Longhorn experience.
From the open tryout and call back game day, each coach will narrow down to a fall roster . In the fall, these players will be asked to play when available. This format allows each child and family a chance to see if our team is a fit for them as well as give the coach a better idea if the child is a fit for us. At any time throughout the fall a commitment letter or cut letter may be given to a player. If a commitment letter is given to a player, at that time the family and child can decide if the organization is a good fit for them.
Tryouts for 10U and 12U Dates and times
This year the Longhorns will have a 2 day tryout.The first day of tryouts will be open.10U August 11 5:30-812U August 12 5:30-8 The 2nd day of tryouts on August 13 will include players that are called back and will participate in a game. 10U Game at 5:30 12U Game at 7:30. The list of all players to attend the callback on August 13 will be posted on our website by 10pm Aug 12.We will be supplying a tryout TShirt to help with evaluations. Please make sure you complete a tryout application and turn it in.
