Safety First in the Preseason

Everybody is starting to think about baseball as registration, player evaluation and drafts are getting underway.  Soon your coaches will start their practices or maybe some of your kids are doing winter workouts.  Lets think about safety in our training.

Coaches be aware that bats are a significant weapon when used normally without adult supervision.  Kids don't want to hurt kids but they also don't look around themselves to insure that they have sufficent clearance before they start swinging their bats.   Little League has a game rule about no bats in the hands of players 12 and under except if the child is up to bat.  This was the common sense solution to not allowing kids to swing bats unless there was a purpose and supervision.

Think before you start an activity which might involve a hazard to the kids.
