IRONMEN WRESTLING CLUB: High School Results
HUDSON VALLEY CHALLEGE RESULTS
The Hudson Valley Challenge once again continued it's record of being one of the best run tournmaments with a high level of competetion. Our guys faced great competeors from NJ, Long Island as well as some of our local studs.
Ironmen brought a fairly good sized group to battle. Our boys all fought well and not one of them has a reason to be anything other then proud. Many of our guys are new wrestlers, with less then 2 years experience. Given the fact they stepped up to guys from areas with strong wrestling programs at earlier ages, the guys did great. We made them earn those wins!!
Our entries were as follows for the HS division:
96lbs-Dean Soto ( This was Deans first match ever---GREAT JOB DEAN)
112lbs- Matt Spano--Silver Metalist
115lbs- Mike Morabito
119lbs Mason Dimarco
125lbs-Jimmy Woechner
140lbs-Par Kuckyza--Bronze Metalist
160lbs- Greg Wetzle-- Bronze Metalist
189lbs- Nick Battista
285lbs- Justin Conahan- Silver Metalist
285lbs- Vinny Barber- Bronze Metalist
The Parents and Staff of Ironmen give these fine warriors a shout for stepping up!!!
Keep working guys!!! Keep the pressure on!!!

Nutmeg Series: Stamford CT 10/18
The Iromen made a great showing at the second of the Nutmeg Series.
In the high school division we made many heads turn with a 100% Placement rate.
Matt Spano took a silver in a very hard bracket at 112. Matt battled well, but encountered some questionable calls. Good job Matt...you are true warrior. Matt faced some of the toughest whole bracket competetion. Many coaches commented on how good a wrestler Matt is. Keep up the pressure Matt..you are making heads turn.
Greg Wetzle took silver at 160lbs. Greg battled against much bigger guys as he is wrestling outside of this normal weight class. Greg gets a special ironmen shout for having the ironmen match of the tournament as in the finals he faced a CT state champ. Greg lost, but only by a few points...showing he is now on the level of the best.
Our heavyweights made a true impression on the CT scene. Justin Conahan took gold in several well fought matches. Our newest member, Vinnie Barber took second place. Both athletes showed good form and good fighting skills. In fact, a college coach took notice of our guys!!!
Look out CT!! We are commiing again!
