...Slammers Welcome New Players for 2013 Season

University of Missouri - St. Louis
.
The Slammers are happy to announce the addition of Hannah Perryman to our pitching staff. Hannah resides in Streamwood, Illinois and is currently a freshman at the University of Missouri - St. Louis where she is had a fantastic season compiling a 24-6 record and a 1.55 era. With a total of 202 innings pitched Hannah struck out a whopping 352 opponents and held them to a .159 batting average. She pitched a no hitter against Kentucky Wesleyan and was been named GLVC pitcher of the week four times this season. Hannah attended Elgin High School.....is a two-time all state selection....named Upstate Eight Conference Pitcher of the Year as a senior...also named Pitcher of the Year by the Daily Herald...set a school single season record with 372 strikeouts as a senior in 176 innings pitched...recorded an ERA of 1.31 as a senior, while holding opponents to a batting average of .112...posted a career ERA of 2.1 and a career batting average of .360, including 26 homeruns, 27 doubles, 15 triples and 108 RBI's...2008 Adidas Top Player...shares state record for most grand slams in a single season and career...struck out 39 of 42 batters faced in back-to-back games at Prairie Ridge Illinois High School Invitational. We expect big things from Hannah this summer and it will be fun to watch her work her magic on the mound.

. The Slammers are thrilled to add Courtney Heeley to our 2013 roster. Courtney is from Glendale Arizona and graduated from Greenway where she captured the State Championship as a sophomore and State runner-up as a senior. Courtney just completed her junior season as a member of the UIC Flames softball team where she played in 42 games compiling a .292 batting average, .333 slg% and .419 ob%. She also played perfect defense this season by not committing a single error. During Courtney's sophomore season she had the second highest ob% of .437 and second highest slg% of .490. She ended the season with a .316 batting average. Courtney will add valued experience to a very potent Slammers lineup.

University of Illinois-Chicago
.
The Slammers are happy to have Natalie Hernandez join us for our 2013 season. Natalie's hometown is Glendora California where she graduated from Glendora High School. She is currently a Junior at University of Illinois-Chicago and had a tremendous junior season as a UIC Flames middle infielder. She topped the Flames with a .376 batting average with a .514 slg%, .380 ob% and drove in 26 runs for the season. Natalie was the leadoff batter for a UIC Flames squad that compiled a .309 batting average for the 2013 season. On defense she can cover a lot of ground and has a cannon of a arm, making her one of the best at her position. We will see some awesome softball from Natalie this summer on offense as well as defense.

Valparaiso University
.
The Slammers are excited to add Kaitlyn Ranieri to our 2013 roster. "Kat" just completed her freshman at Valparaiso University where she earned a starting position in the outfield and the leadoff spot in the Crusaders batting order. Kat finished the 2013 season with a .314 batting average along with a .387 slg% and .417 ob%. She is from Schererville Indiana and attended Lake Central High School where she was a 4 year letter winner, awarded team MVP her sophomore and senior seasons. She also garnered All-Conference and All-Region honors her sophomore, junior and senior years. In her first sesason at Valpo Kaitlyn received 2nd team All-Conference for the Horizon League. Kat brings another valued left handed bat to the Slammers lineup. She is a very smart hitter who can hit to all parts of the field. Pitchers will have to work really hard this summer to keep her off the base paths. We will expect to see some clutch at bats from Kat this season.

The Slammers welcome Amanda Mener of Naperville Illinois to our 2013 squad. Amanda has just started her sophomore season as a DePaul Blue Demon. As a freshman at DePaul, Amanda scored the winning run in the NCAA Regional victory over Massachusetts...was a pinch-runner against USF in the Big East Championship and against Massachusetts and Illinois State at the NCAA Regionals...scored one run each against BYU, Hofstra, Louisville, Illinois State, Pittsburgh, Connecticut and Notre Dame. During her prep career Amanda hit .442 as the leadoff batter her sophomore season and .385 as a junior. Amanda's speed will play a huge role in the success of the Slammers this summer.

The Slammers are excited to have Kelsey Dotson join us for the upcoming summer. Kelsey who lives in Silver Lake, Indiana has just started her freshman year behind the plate for the Indiana Hoosiers. She had a stellar high school career at Warsaw Community High School. She blasted a school record 12 home runs as a senior while hitting .554 with 37 RBI. The 12 home runs are the third most all-time in Indiana high school history...career batting average of .541 ranks fifth all-time among Indiana high school players...named first team all-state as a junior and senior...garnered all-conference accolades all four years...was nominated for the 2012 Indiana Gatorade Player of the Year...also a finalist for Indiana Miss Softball...named Indianapolis Star Super First Team. Kelsey hit .574 as a junior and blasted 11 home runs and 39 RBI...hit .605 as a sophomore with 7 home runs and 35 RBI...registered a .431 batting average as a freshman while hitting 5 home runs and plating 26 runs.

The Slammers are thrilled to have Brittny join us for the 2013 season. Brittny lives in Moline, IL and had an incredible HS career at Moline HS completing her senior year hitting .504 with 8 home runs and 41 RBI's. Getting off to a fast start in the opening five games
of her college career with the Redbirds Drish was 7-for-10, with two RBI, one double, one walk and one hit-by-pitch while playing excellent defense at the shortstop position. Brittny's hitting skills and solid defense as a middle infielder will make her an
immediate impact player for the Slammers this summer.

#32 Casey Clutch-Creakbaum - Univ of Evansville '05 -Fishers, Indiana

Clutch boasts a strong softball background as a player and coach. She was a four-year starting pitcher at the University of Evansville, helping the Aces to a Missouri Valley Conference Tournament championship and a berth in the NCAA Softball National Tournament. During her time at Evansville, she was selected for the USA Women’s National Team Camp at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif. She was a two-time NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete and a member of the 2004 MVC All-Tournament Team.

Following her graduation from Evansville in 2005, she began her own business, Clutch Athletic Performance, Inc., providing softball instruction and sport specific strength and conditioning training. She also continued her playing career with the Indiana Slammers, taking on player/coach duties in 2006. Indiana’s premier women’s fastpitch team, the Indiana Slammers claimed USSSA East World Series championships in 2008, 2009 and 2011. Clutch compiled a 28-0 record with 10 shutouts, 2007-09.

A four-year member of the MVC Honor Roll and two-time MVC Commissioner’s Academic Excellence Award winner, Clutch graduated cum laude with a degree in exercise science from Evansville. She earned a Master of Science degree in Kinesiology with an Emphasis in Coaching from Texas Women’s University in conjunction with the NFCA National Fastpitch Coaches College in 2007.

.
Perryman is the first underclassman to ever earn GLVC Pitcher of the Year since the awards inception in 2005 and is the second Triton to be recognized as the conference’s top pitcher as Allyson DeFosset was tabbed in 2009. A native of Streamwood, Ill., Perryman captured five of the 11 GLVC Pitcher of the Week accolades awarded this year and finished the regular season by breaking DeFosset’s 2009 school record with 299 strikeouts. That total currently ranks second nationally, while her average of 12.5 strikeouts per seven innings is tops among all NCAA Division II pitchers. In addition, the 21-5 hurler rates fifth in the country with 3.75 hits allowed per seven innings, 11th with nine shutouts, 22nd with 21 victories, and 24th with a 1.46 ERA.
