 Tournament MVP Kirsten Verdun greeted by teammates after blasting walk-off 3 run homer overcoming an extra inning 2-0 deficit vs All American softball. In addition to swinging a huge bat, Kirsten also threw a 2 hit shutout blanking the Hearts 3-0 in the Tournament Championship game.

One big reason Sadie Conner was selected All Tournament was this huge 6th inning, game winning HR in Semi Final game vs Hearts. The HR made a 1-0 winner out of Torie Bunzell who threw a 2 hit shutout putting the Slammers into the Championship game. Sadie also bolstered the flawless Slammer defense with repeated great plays at third base.

. 

 

In the Tournament championship game vs the Hearts All Tournament selection Bridget Paine hit a mammoth 5th inning 2 run home run which was all Verdun needed in this 3-0 victory. The final exclamation point was a Dani Miller solo shot over the left field fence in the final inning.

 Notre Dame's All American Dani Miller was selected Offensive Player of the Tournament for her team leading 7 runs scored and team leading .444 tournament batting average.

Tournament Outstanding Pitcher Torie Bunzell allowed no runs in her 3 games. Casey Clutch Creakbaum ( showed with son Eli), was another All Tournament selection with a dazzling 10 strikeout shutout vs Elite. Next to Casey is All Big Ten power hitting catcher Liz Watkins who was behind the plate in 6 of our 7 games. Coryn Schmit from UIC not only did a great job in her stint behind the plate, but played flawless first base while also hitting .333. Finally, Tournament MVP Kirsten Verdun from DePaul provided the most dramatic moment of the tournament with her 3 run walk off home run vs All American Softball and her shutout over the Hearts in the championship game.

  Slammer opponents were totally dominated by pitchers Brit Gardner, Kirsten Verdun, and Torie Bunzell who collectively allowed an astonishing 1 earned run in 7 games for a combined ERA of 0.24. Add to this a .611 Tournament BA for speedy leadoff hitter Jhavon Hamilton in front of the brutal power of Mallory Paine, Liz Watkins, Jenny Jacobs, Shanna Diller, Jamie Davison/Revelle and the rest of the Slammer line-up. Congratulations to all of our players for making this the most one sided tournament victory in Slammer history and in the history of this prestigious USSSA tournament.
