Thanks goes out to ALL 16 teams, you helped us break the previous record of team entered. Also CAMDEN CITY FIRE added to their winning history, by adding another Championship to their Trophy case in New Jersey. They were up against a tough team out of New York, the NYPD Football gave Camden a run for their money in this 2008 Championship Game, taking the place of FDNY, who did not return this year. Time was the deciding factor in this game, with Camden winning 14-6 in the 2nd half, they had a drivegoing that got them down to about the 15 yard line, where they decided to kick a field goal. NYPD was given the ball and marched down to score a touchdown, making the score 17-14. Camden City Fire downed the ball on the next series, running the time off the clock and claiming their 2nd TRUE CHAMPIONSHIP in 5 years, only being beat by Firehouse Blaze (2005) and FDNY (2006).

SUNDAY's GAMES

#1 Camden vs. #10 Savage
Savage only had 6 guys show up, a few Local 2000 members were willing to play with Savage to fill the roster, but Camden would not allow it. Savage played 6 guys against 8 the entire game. Lost badly, but showed heart. Even though they lost, I think Savage was a BIG factor later on in the day, during the Champioship game.

#5 Potomac Valley vs. #6 Westside
Very close game until an inadvertent whistle was blown, Westside players heard it, fans heard, hell even I heard it.....Potomac Valley con't to run down the field as the Westside team watched, waiting for the play to come back and then suddenly stood in shock as the Ref raised his hands for a TD. If it was not for this bad call, Westside may have advanced to the next round because at the end of regulation the scored would have been tied and they would have a chance to win in OT.

#4 Alexandria vs. #7 Loudoun Co.
Loudoun Co. told Game Officials that they would not be able to field enough players for Sundays playoffs.

#3 Local 2000 vs. #8 Baltimore Co. Firefighters
Due to work schedules, Baltimore Co. could not field enough players. They could of tried to revenge the lost on Saturday. Maybe next year?

#2 Firehouse Blaze vs. #9 Arlington Va. Fire
Arlington Co.'s Captain informed Game Officals on Saturday that they only had 5 guys show up (Local 2000 players joined w/ Arlington to play Camden), After Arlington's 1st game, the team went from 5 to 2 due to injuries. Blaze by Forfeit.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Next round:
#5 Potomac vs. #4 Alexandria
BIG SHOCKER! Alexandria was upset! Appeared Alexandria had the edge, but Potomac pulled it off.

#3 Local 2000 vs. #2 Firehouse Blaze
Tied 14-14 @ the half. Appeared Local 2000 was going to pull off the upset, on 3rd down a mistake was made, suddenly a 15 yd. personal foul and automatic first down against the Defense, gave the edge to the Blaze. On the very next play, a mistake by a Local 2000 defensive player, left a wide open Blaze receiver for a TD. With under a min. to play Local 2000 tried to run the field but time was not on their side. With 4 sec. left, a hell mary was put up in the air, only to be knocked down by the Blaze defenders.

#5 Potomac vs. #1 Camden City
Good, hard playing game by both teams. Camden came away with the win and advanced to the Championship round agaist the Blaze.

Championship Round:
#1 Camden vs. #2 Blaze
Camden decided to go into the Championship game without a break between the game against Potomac. The game was a great game in the first half, with both defense's protecting their endzone to a 0-0 tie at halftime. The Blaze was to have the ball in the begining of the 2nd half and Camden's sideline was silent after the Blaze threw to a wide open receiver, who out ran the Camden defense for the 1st TD of the Game. The Blaze scored another 2 unanswered TD's in the 2nd half. Not only did they shut out Camden, they also took the 2005 title from them............which I think really hurt the most.
I am sure it was a long and silent trip back home.

Look out for Camden next year, I think they will come hard at every team they come across. I think not taking the break that was offered between games really hurt their chances at becoming back to back Champs.

I hope this wraps up the tournament for those that could not make it. Maybe next year you can be there playing or watching the teams Battle for the 2006 "Bragging Rights" Title. Information will be posted once I get some rest and icy hot all over my body!

I am trying to go BIG next year! Need to talk to the right people to see if I can make it happen!

Thanks to everyone that helped out, especially the Savage guys for helping the Union boys out!

I will send a new pair of shoe strings for that #00 on your team, because I shook the *** out of him on the TD run I had against you guys! LOL
