2004 ASA 'A' 18U Alabama State Champions
The Sharks are the oldest travel softball organization in North Alabama. Over 55 college scholarships have been offered to Sharks players!
The goal of the 18U Huntsville Sharks is to provide a competitive, wholesome, friendly and instructional fastpitch softball experience through hard practice, tough training and successful tournament play. We will expose our players to the fundamentals of fastpitch softball and strategy, teach teamwork and good sportsmanship and present to our players the life skills and values needed to succeed in life both on and off the field. We are made up of players from all over North Alabama and Southern Tennessee.
Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishment toward organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results.

Sharks finish tied for 25th at ASA Nationals!
The Sharks finished tied for 25th in a field of 138 teams at the ASA 18U 'A' National Championships. After a rough start by losing the first two games, the Sharks fought their way through losers bracket by defeating teams from Ohio (Sting, 5-0), the Pride from Phoenix Arizona (2-1), the Kansas City Lasers (6-5 in 9 innings), the San Diego Legacy (5-1), the Rebelz from Redding PA (1-0), and finally lost to the Lady Blues from North Carolina (6-2) on Friday afternoon. The week was a wonderful experience for the players as they had a chance to play the best competition from across the nation and also got to show their skills to many college coaches and scouts. Many players received personal invitations to numerous campuses across the south east and midwest. We look forward to many of the players receiving scholarships for softball this fall. Check back for details. Way to go Sharks on a great summer!
Sharks repeat as ASA Class 'A' State Champs
The Sharks went 5-1 to claim the ASA State title and earn a trip the the 18U ASA Nationals this past weekend. They beat the AL Vipers in the opener 7-6 in a game that almost got away. The next day we got in our first game at 8:00 am against the Senators from Montgomery as Emily shut them out for 4-0 win. Then the rain came and created a delay and the tournament was forced to push all games to Sunday with a 1:30 minute time limit. The Sharks had to play the Sharks gold in the next round and found a way to beat them 3-0 with strong pitching from Kristen and solid team offense from Beth, Whitney, Kristina, Erin, Danielle and Stacie. After that they meet the Birmingham Mustangs and battle three innings to a 0-0 tie. Then the bats came alive and the Sharks put together a string of hits and won 6-0 behind a 1 hit shut out performance from Kristen. This win placed the Sharks in the championship series where the Thrillers would have to beat them twice. The thrillers won game one behind solid pitching and early game miscues by the Sharks as they lost 4-0. It was now 1215 Am on Monday morning the the champion would be decided in the final game. The Sharks came out swing and got 2 runs in the first inning and never looked back from there as they went on to win 10-2 in 6 innings to claim the State title for the second year in a row. Erin threw a 3-hitter and the team put together 10 hits to go with their 10 runs in the win.
Sharks finish 13th!
The Sharks worked hard in Colorado going 7-3 and placing 13th among 148 teams from all over the nation. The Colorado Sparkler presented many challenges all the way. The weather was beautiful and the air was thin as the Sharks played softball all week.
Starting off with pool play, the Sharks lost their opener to the Tiger Lillies from Ohio in a 3-1 tight game with good pitching on both sides. Next, they faced the Broken Arrow Storm and the bats came alive as they defeated the Storm 6-3 with a walk grand slam by Jenn. Wednesday saw the Sharks face 2 tough opponents, one from California and the other from Nebraska. The bats continued to work as the Sharks beat the California team 14-4 and the Sizzle from Nebraska 4-3 to finish out pool play and place first which qualified the Sharks for the Gold bracket. In tournament play, the Sharks defeated Omaha Quakes 8-1, then lost to the Memphis Fusion 7-6 in a very tight game. The loss put the Sharks in the lossers bracket and made Friday a very long day. We had to win 6 games to make it to Saturday play and that was no easy task. The Sharks beat the Katy Express Gold 6-2 and then moved onto to defeat the Colorado Warriors, 6-3. The next game was against Lakeville Minnesota and the Sharks were again victorious with a 3-2 win. The Sharks ran out of gas as they were beaten by the Texas Connection 8-0 to end the Colorado tournament for the Sharks. Placing 13th out of 148 teams was a very successful week.
