Update: Howland State Teams split over the weekend

The 11 year old boys and 10/11 girls LL state team split in tournament play over the weekend.  The boys in Chesapeake, Ohio for the Little League state tournament are 1-1 going into Monday's game. 

 

The girls 9/10 team playing in the Little League state championship in Conneaut are 1-1 going into Monday's game.

The Howland 11 year old boys beat Canfield 2-1 to win the LL District 2 championship.  They will now compete for the state title in Chesapeake Ohio starting August 1st.

 

The 9/10 girls beat Poland 3-2 to win the LL District 2 Championship.  The girls fought through the losers bracket and beat Poland twice to take the title.  The will compete for the state title in Conneaut.

Congratulations to both teams.  We are proud of you.

Howland 7 and 8 Tournament Results

25 Games in two days!  Howland Black loses it's first game of tournament and then reels off 8 straight wins to take championship!  Howland Orange takes 4th.  Great job to all.

Dear Little League Volunteer:

 

You may have heard about the tragic accident last night (6/3) during a weather-related delay in a Spotsylvania County (Va.) Little League game. One child died as a result of a lightning strike, and another was injured.

 

We at Little League International extend our deepest sympathy to the family of Little Leaguer Chelal Matos. Our thoughts and prayers also are with the child who was injured, and with his family.

 

As you know, Little League International has provided extensive information to its member leagues on lightning safety, in conjunction with the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration. We are taking this opportunity to remind all parents and volunteers to review the information linked below.
