Bill Walton - Head Coach
The director of the UH volleyball camp, Bill Walton has 35 years of experience. He has been a permanent fixture in the consistent success and longevity of the Cougar volleyball program. Walton is considered one of the top coaches in the country. He is ranked 9th in the nation by victories and top 30 in winning percentage. He led the Cougars to 368 overall wins and 86 conference victories. Under Walton’s direction Houston has become one of the nation’s elite programs and earned bids to the NCAA Tournament for 10 consecutives seasons.
Gabi Carbone - Assistant Coach
The Brazillian native brings over 14 years of international experience. A first team Junior College All-American transfer, Carbone helped the University of Houston to its 10th consecutive NCAA appearance, setting records in digs and aces per game. Carbone is entering her fourth year coaching at U of H, and has also been a club coach for seven years.
Phil Nickel - Assistant Coach
Phil Nickel finished his fifth season as assistant coach for the Houston volleyball program in 2006. His other NCAA Division I volleyball experiences include two assistant coaching positions at Illinois State and Wright State, as well as a head coaching position at Thomas More College. Nickel has helped coach 8 athletes to 10 All-Conference honors, and helped produce the 2004-2005 C-USA Defensive Player of the Year, as well as 3 All-Americans..
