Volunteer Opportunities

 

 

Welcome to Horizon Little League, a completely volunteer organization.

We are looking forward to having you on the team!

 

Each volunteer must submit a volunteer application and a copy his or her drivers license at
registration. Note that, per Little League International, a background check will be conducted
for all Volunteers
. Background checks are conducted through ChoicePoint. Volunteer approvals are
valid for a season's calendar year. All documents are destroyed at the end of each calendar year.
Also note that addtional forms are required for all Managers and Coaches plus attendance to 
Safety, Pre-Tryout and Coach Clinics held prior to the start of the Spring season.

OPENING DAY OPPORTUNITIES

  • Bouncy Supervisor: Work with the bouncy company to determine the needs for the day
  • Silent Auction: Coordinate and help with set-up, clean-up and monitor bidding.
  • Food Booths: Caterer
  • Pictures: Parents needed to help coordinate with Sports-Eye, the individual and team photos at the Ramada.
    One hour shifts or for the whole time.
  • Field Maintenance: Help prepare field before and after each game.
  • Sound System: Set-up and maintain sound system for the events of the day.
  • Announcer: Make announcements of teams, players, sponsors, and general announcing needs.
  • Flag and Pledge of Allegiance or National Anthem before each game: May be spoken or sung.
  • VIP Guide: If you know of local icons who would like to participate during opening day as a speaker,
    or PR for Horizon Little League, please let us know. Our families enjoy having role models for our children to speak with.

DURING THE SEASON

Each team at all levels will need...

  • Team Mom or Team Dad: Need a Mom or Dad to be the contact person between coaches and board to
    organize volunteers to help with team needs.
  • Business Manager: Help to procure sponsorship and confirm that all proper paperwork is registered with the league.
  • Score Keeper: Keeps official score at each of the games along with the pitch count for appropriate levels.
  • Field Maintenance: Help with field maintenance prior to each game.
  • Sponsorship: Your business could receive recognition within the league in many different avenues, based on your
    participation. Contact the board or speak with your team manager.

VOLUNTEER INFORMATION MEETING

As a volunteer you will receive vital information regarding Horizon Little League. Please plan to attend
one of the dates listed on the events calendar prior to the start of each season.

Coaching
MANAGING AND COACHING WITH HORIZON LITTLE LEAGUE
Those wishing to manage or coach each season must submit:
1.       Horizon Little League Manager/Coach Application
2.       Coach Code of Conduct Form
3.       Volunteer Application
4.       Drivers License copy 
The Volunteer Application is available online for download.  Please contact the Coaching Coordinator 
listed under Board of Directors for the Manager/Coach Application and Code of Conduct.  For an upcoming 
season, the completed forms should be submitted at Registration.
Note that a background check will be conducted on ALL applicants.
Members of the Horizon Little League Board of Directors (division Vice Presidents) will review all applications and contact 
the applicants.  This committee will then make recommendations to the League President.  According to 
Little League guidelines, "The local league President and local league 
Board of Directors ANNUALLY appoint and approve all managers, coaches and umpires. There is NO 
tenure involved at any position at the local league level, regardless 
of the years of service." 
Each year all managers and coaches are required to attend a Horizon Little League-recommended 
Coaching Clinic. Also, managers will be required to attend a Safety Clinic 
administered by Horizon Little League.
