THANK YOU SENIORS!
No team can succeed without great leaders, including our 2006 Indoor Track Team. Without the leadership and enthusiasm of our Seniors, the 2006 team would not have had the fun and enjoyed the successes it did. Katie, Paul, Pete, Frank, Dave, and Maurice, congratulations for all that you have achieved and thank you for your years of hard work and dedication to the Holy Cross Indoor Track team. Your leadership, commitment and enthusiasm made a great difference to the team, and you will be greatly missed! We wish you Good Luck as you pursue your hopes and dreams in college, and want you to remember that your team mates, coaches, parents and friends will always be thankful for all that you have done for Holy Cross and the Indoor Track team. Thanks!

A form will given to team members at practice, and will be mailed to those we have addresses for (which probably is not everyone). The form must be returned with the money due before February 16. Any checks should be made to "Holy Cross HS".

There will be a pizza party for the team and coaches on Friday, Jan. 6 following practice (between 4:00 and 5:00pm) in the Cafeteria. Pizza and drinks will be provided by the Club.
We also hope to have the warm-ups to give out to those who ordered them at the Pre-Season Parents Meeting (keep your fingers crossed that they're done by then)
We'll also have some of the boys singlets ($23) and girls singlets ($23) and girls lycra tops ($34) available for sale for those who want one but did not get the chance to buy one yet (these are NOT available in the school store).
We also plan to take the team photo before the party, which we'll post on the web (low resolution). If anyone wants a copy (5"x7" photo or high res jpeg), please email Michael Morris or see him at one of the meets.
Lastly, we'll be checking the roster to make sure we have everyone's name and address for our mailing list (needed for the team banquet).

PRE-SEASON PARENTS MEETING FOR 2006 SEASON
The 2006 Holy Cross Indoor Track & Field is scheduled to start practice around Thanksgiving. The combined boys and girls teams usually have between 20 and 30 athletes, and compete at meets held at college indoor tracks during late December, January, and early February. The meets are usually held at Haverford College in Haverford, PA; Princeton University in Princeton, NJ; Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, NJ; and the 168th Street Armory in Manhattan, NY. In addition to the regular meets, there are usually one or two during the season that are held for freshmen and sophomore athletes only.
There will be a Pre-Season Parents' Meeting for the 2006 Indoor Track & Field team in the Holy Cross cafeteria on Tuesday, December 6, 2005 starting at 7:00 pm . At the meeting, parents will get to meet the coach, learn about the parents booster organization (Lancer Track Club), get schedules and directions to the meets, get information about running shoes, complete any necessary paperwork, find out about Team Pizza Parties and other club activities, and buy Indoor Track clothing (sweatshirts, T-Shirts, warm-ups, etc). As this will be the only Parents Meeting held during the season, at least one parent for each team member is requested to attend. Team members are invited to come, but its not necessary.
For more information, please email us.
***THE MEETING IS ON AS SCHEDULED.***

NEW PARENTS - CONFUSED ABOUT INDOOR TRACK...?
Well, you aren't alone. It is a unique sport with lots of "challenges." Most of the challenges ultimately have to do with the lack of indoor tracks - there just aren't that many around (if every high school had an indoor track, the sport would be very different than it is now). The indoor tracks we use are usually far away, are used most of the time by colleges for their own teams, and many of the meets we do end up going to are not run all that well (ranges from being relatively well run by NJSIAA to being horribly run by the NJCTC). And, of course, if you don't have an indoor facility, you really can't train for indoor meets. How many other winter sports do you see the athletes practicing outside? (even ice hockey athletes practice and play indoors!)
Click here for an interesting article from a few years ago written by Ed Grant, a guy who is more or less a track legend (as far as keeping records, running meets, etc) from North Jersey which tells about his considerable experience with the sport of indoor track in New Jersey.
And remember, outdoor track is only a few short months away...
