Armory Track & Field Center (168th St. Armory in NYC)
From Holy Cross, take Rt. 130 North approx. 1 mile to Creek Road. Make a right onto Creek Road and follow for approx. 4 miles to exit for I-295 North. Follow I-295 north approx. 4.5 miles to Rt. 541 (exit 47A/Mt. Holly). Follow Rt. 541 approx. 1 mile to the NJ Turnpike. Take the NJ Turnpike North to where it splits - take the roadway to Exits 15W-18W (George Washington Bridge). Continue past exit 16W, then follow signs to the George Washington Bridge. As you near the bridge, follow yellow signs that say "Express" to get on the upper level of the bridge. Once past the $6.00 toll and on the bridge, get in right lane and exit at 178th street. Go through one light and make a right at the next light onto Broadway. Go 10 blocks south and make a right onto 168th street, then go one block to Fort Washington Ave. The Armory entrance is at 168th and Fort Washington.

Travel Time - Approx. 1 hr 30 min to 2 hrs from Holy Cross, depending on traffic.
Parking - If you park on the street (can be very hard to find), you have to pay the parking meter on Mondays through Saturdays until 10pm. There is un-metered parking on Riverside Drive, south of 165th street. There is also a parking garage on 165th and Fort Washington.
Admission - $5 adults, $3 children
Seating - small, cramped seats, but good view of track. Most people sit near the entrance doors - there is more room further away from them.
Outside Food & Drinks - allowed in seating area
Snackbar - available. There are also vending machines.
Track - Banked (!) 200m Mondo track. At one time advertised as "The Fastest Track in the World".
Running Shoes - spikes usually allowed, but only max. 1/4" pyramids. NO needle spikes! Some meets are "No Spike Meets"
Misc. Approx. $10 tolls each way on NJ Turnpike and GW Bridge, may also need money for parking (see below).
Venue and Operations Rating - **** out of **** This is as good as it gets around here...
Generally well run (due to the Armory having its own staff that helps). New Balance spent a lot of money fixing the facility when they started sponsoring it in 2004 (the building was originally constructed in 1909), and it now houses the National Track & Field Hall of Fame.

From Holy Cross, take Rt. 130 South approx. 4 miles to exit for Betsy Ross Bridge (Rt 90 west). Cross the Betsy Ross Bridge to I-95 South. Follow I-95 South approx. 4 miles to I-676 West (Vine Street Expressway). Follow I-676 West approx. 2 miles to I-76 West (Schuylkill Expressway). Follow I-76 West approx. 3.5 miles to Rt. 1 South (City Ave - exit 33). Follow Rt. 1 South approx. 2 miles to Rt. 30 West (Lancaster Ave.) (St. Charles Seminary on corner). Turn right onto Rt. 30 West and follow for approx. 3 miles through downtown Ardmore to College Lane (just past Pier 1 Imports on right, then Citizens Bank on left, look for small guardhouse on College Lane on the left). Turn left onto College Lane and follow until it splits, then turn left onto Coursey Road and follow signs to Visitor Parking Lots (look for school busses). The meets are held in the Alumni Fieldhouse.
ALTERNATE DIRECTIONS
Take Schuylkill Expressway to second exit past City Avenue, and take the Gladwyn exit (Exit 337).
At bottom of the exit ramp, turn left
Go approx. 0.9 miles to a T-intersection, and make a right turn onto Rt. 23 West.
At first traffic light, continue straight, following sign for Mill Creek Road.
Go approx. 1.1 mile to traffic light. Turn left, staying on Mill Creek Road.
Go approx. 0.4 mile to 4 way stop. Go straight (bear slightly to right) staying on Mill Creek Road.
Go approx. 0.3 miles, and turn right onto Woodside Road (small street sign hard to see).
Follow Woodside Road past first traffic light (Montgomery Ave) to second traffic light, and turn right onto Rt. 30 (Lancaster Ave).
Go approx. 0.2 miles to entrance to Haverford College on left side.

From Holy Cross, take Rt. 130 North approx. 1 mile to Creek Road. Make a right onto Creek Road and follow for approx. 4 miles to exit for I-295 North. Follow I-295 north approx. 4.5 miles to Rt. 541 (exit 47A/Mt. Holly). Follow Rt. 541 approx. 1 mile to the NJ Turnpike. Take the NJ Turnpike North to Exit 15E. Follow signs for Jersey City. Cross over 2 draw bridges and go straight through the first intersection (Rt. 440). Continue straight about 0.7 miles to Kennedy Blvd. (Walgreens on left). Turn left onto Kennedy Blvd. Go about 0.6 miles and turn right onto Montgomery Street (St. Peters College on the left). The Armory is on the left, several blocks down at the intersection with Jordan Ave.
Alternate directions - take NJ Turnpike to Exit 14C. After paying toll, take exit for Columbus Drive. Make a left onto Montgomery Street. Go about 1/2 mile on Montgomery St. Armory is on the right side at intersection with Jordan Ave.
Travel Time - Between 1 hr 30 minutes and 1 hr 45 minutes.
Parking - Free parking in St. Peter's College parking lot across street from front entrance, until full. If that isn't available, parking on street (with meters) or nearby parking lots (have to pay).
Admission - Free
Seating - Plenty of uncomfortable wooden seats
Outside Food & Drinks - Posted signs say no outside food or drink allowed, but many bring them anyway.
Snackbar - No longer available inside the building (since they laid the new track in 2005), but there are usually some food and drink vendors in the building lobby or outside the front doors.
Track - Brand new (2005) 200 m track.
Running Shoes - Spikes are usually allowed. Typically the rules state max 1/8" pins, but many use 1/4" anyway.

New track and other upgrades made in 2005 have helped make this facility much better than it had been.

Make a right onto Creek Road and follow for approx. 4 miles to exit for I-295 North (HCHS bus sometimes takes Rt. 130 North approx. 16 miles to I-295 North, then 10 miles to Rt. 1 North). Follow I-295 North approx. 24 miles to Rt. 1 North (Exit 67). Follow Rt. 1 North approx. 4.3 miles to Washington Rd. (Rt. 526 West) (Getty & Exxon Stations on right.) Bear right off Rt. 1 and cross back over Rt. 1 onto Washington Road. Follow Washington Road approx. 0.8 miles to first light and make a right onto Faculty Road (first road past Lake Carnegie). Go to top of hill and make left on Fitz Randolph, and then into parking lot. The meets are held in Jadwin Gym.

Generally well run and a nice facility, but if the meet is in the afternoon following a morning meet, seating is difficult to find at first. Having only 1 shot put circle for both boys and girls (since track and basement were refurbished in late 2004) is ridiculous.

From Holy Cross, take Rt. 130 North approx. 1 mile to Creek Road. Make a right onto Creek Road and follow for approx. 4 miles to exit for I-295 North. Follow I-295 north approx. 4.5 miles to Rt. 541 (exit 47A/Mt. Holly). Follow Rt. 541 approx. 1 mile to the NJ Turnpike. Take the NJ Turnpike North approx. 39 miles (from Exit 5) to the Garden State Parkway (Exit 11). Follow Garden State Parkway North to the end, and then follow signs for the New York Thruway (Rt. 87 South/Rt. 287 East). Stay on New York Thruway to Exit 13N, and exit onto the Palisades Interstate Parkway heading north. Take the PIP north 16 miles to its end at Bear Mountian traffic circle. Follow signs for Rt. 9W North (3rd exit off traffic circle). Take Rt. 9W North approx. 2.5 miles to the first "West Point, Highland Falls" exit. Take this road through Highland Falls, following signs for West Point. Continue past the Visitors Center and McDonalds restaurant to Thayer Gate, the guardhouse at the entrance to the academy. After security checkpoints, stay to the right and follow signs to Gillis Fieldhouse on Tower Road.

Coming off the bridge, follow signs for Interstate 95 North and Philadelphia to get on I-95 North
Get off I-95 at Exit 6 (Rts 320 and 352)
At first traffic light, turn left over bridge
Bear right at fork on other side of bridge onto Providence Rd (320/252)
Go to second traffic light and turn right on 15th Street
Go to stop sign and turn left onto Walnut Street.
Go approx. 2 blocks and turn right onto 17th Street.
Follow 17th Street to Schwartz Athletic Center.
To Return to I-95 and I-476 from Schwartz Athletic Center:
Follow 17th Street to Melrose Avenue. Turn right onto Melrose Ave.*
Continue north to 22nd Street, which turns into MacDade Blvd.
Turn right. Follow MacDade Blvd. east to signs for I-95 and I-476.
(Note that there is no on-ramp to I-95 when going south on Melrose.)
