2014 Michigan ASA Slow Pitch Series - Men's D, E, & F

For 2014, The Michigan Amateur Softball Association will be offering a Slow Pitch Tournament Series in Michigan ASA Men’s Slow Pitch classes D, E, and F qualifying tournaments.  Teams can earn points and travel fund money for the 2014 season.  For 2014, the points system will be based on each individual tournament.  State tournament seeding will be based on Slow Pitch Series points.  For more details, please read below:

TRAVEL FUND

  • A Travel Fund for each D, E, & F Michigan ASA qualifier will be established based on a $20/team entered.  The 1st place team will receive 70% and the 2nd place team will receive 30%.  Monies will be distributed at the end of the season by the Michigan ASA state office by check and will not be given at each tournament due to the possibility that a team could finish 1st or 2nd in multiple tournaments.  A tournament must be played to count towards the Travel Fund

POINTS SYSTEM FOR 2014

  • A scoring system has been established for Michigan ASA tournament play.  The system is based on the assumption that winning a 24 team tournament is two times as difficult as winning an 8 team tournament.  And winning a 64 team tournament is three times as difficult as winning an 8 team tournament.  The points system is as follows...

  •
    • Teams   1st    2nd   3rd    4th    5t       7t      9t      13t     17t
    • 2-4         240   180   120   60
    • 5-6         300   240   180   120   60
    • 7-8         360   300   240   180   120    60
    • 9-12       480   400   320   240   180    120   60
    • 13-16     640   500   400   320   240    180   120    60
    • 17-24     720   600   480   360   300    240   180    120    60

  • After the conclusion of all qualifiers the top three teams in points will have an opportunity for a paid berth into their respective Michigan ASA Championship State tournament.  Ties will be determined by win/loss percentage.  If teams are still tied a coin toss will take place.

STATE TOURNAMENT SEEDING/PAID BERTHS FOR TOP THREE IN OVERALL POINTS

  • For 2014, the Michigan Amateur Softball Association will seed the top eight teams per classification in the Points System for state championship play.  This will help protect the top eight point earning teams from facing each other in the opening rounds of a state championship tournament.  We hope this will help give more incentive to teams to play more Michigan ASA qualifiers.  Remember, the top three teams, per class, in points will receive a paid berth into their respective state championship tournament.  After the conclusion of all qualifiers, the top 3 teams in points will have an opportunity for a paid berth into the Michigan ASA state championship finals. Ties will be determined by win – lose percentage, if still tied, a coin toss.
