Safety Classes: Boaters Safety Class Information


Boating Safety classes will be offered through the Holland Township Recreation Department and the Ottawa County Sheriff's Department.  These courses are classromm instruction, only.  The classes cover how to operate a watercraft (including personal watercraft), safely and in accordance to the Michigan laws.  Anyone born after December 31, 1978 must have a Boater Safety Certificate to legally operate a personal watercraft.  Upon the successful completion of the course, a Boating Safety Certificate will be issued.  These classes are recommended for those 12 years old and older.  Anyone under 12 years old MUST be accompanied by an adult. 

Classes will be held at the Riley St. Fire Station located next to the north side branch of the Herrick District Library.  For an address, directions, and a map click on the "Locations" button listed to the left of this page. Go to the listing for the Riley St. Fire Station and you'll find what you need.  Class size is limited to 30 students per class.

2016 Class Dates & Times are as follows:

  • April 19 & 20 from 6:00pm-9:00pm
  • May 18 & 19 from 6:00pm-9:00pm
The cost is $10.00 per student.
