2014 Boys Little League Classifications & Age Divisions



Here are the divisions we will be offering for the 2014 season:                 

  • 9 years old – Minor League Lower Division  
    • The 9 years old division is mainly for new comers to live arm pitching baseball, with children pitching to children. Children at this level will not be eligible for Little League All-Star consideration. This level is basically for third grade players only.         
  • 9-10 years old – Minor League Upper Division
    • The 9-10 years old division is for 9-10 years old children that are familiar with live arm pitching but aren’t quite ready for the Major League  Division.  This division is also for 9 year old children that are capable of handling the next level and 11 year old children that are not quite ready for the Major League Division.  11 year old children and 5th graders at this level will not be eligible for Little League All-Star consideration and will need approval from the Recreation Department to participate at this level.  This level will not have any 8 year old or 12 year old children in it.  This level will also not have any 6th graders in it.  This level is basically for fourth grade players only.      
  • 10-12 years old – Major League Division 
    • The 10-12 years old division is for 10-12 years old children that are familiar with live arm pitching and is basically an 11-12 division but with 10 year old children that are better than average.  10, 11, and 12 years old children at this level will be eligible for Little League All-Star consideration.  This level will not have any 8 or 9 years old in it.  This level is basically for fifth grade and above players only.
  • 13-14 years old - Juniors Division
    • The 13/14 years old will be playing in an area-league format, again, this year

Additional Age Information

  • 8 years old presently in 3rd grade
    • By Little League Rules, if you have a child that is 8 years old, is presently in third grade and the parents want them to play in the 9 years old division, then that child will be able to play in only the local league and end of the season tournament. Otherwise, they can play a second year of 2nd Grade Coach Pitch.
  • 12 years old presently in 7th grade
    • By Little League Rules, if you have a child that is 12 years old, is presently in seventh grade and the parents want them to play in the 13-14 years old division, then that child will be able to play in the local league, end of the season tournament and can only participate in the JUNIOR LEAGUE ALL-STAR tournaments, they cannot drop back down and play in the MAJOR DIVISION.
