Little Panthers Girls Basketball - Hand2Hand Ministries Fundraiser - Saturday, November 22

Holland Township Recreation is excited to announce that on Saturday, November 22nd we will be running a food drive in support of Hand2Hand Ministries at the Girl's Little Panthers basektball games at Great Lakes Elementary. Hand2Hand Ministries is a resource for children facing hunger over the weekend. Healthy food is provided for these children so they have a greater opportunity to succeed academically, emotionally, and physically. This is done by simply providing a backpack with food on Fridays in the child's locker for them to take home. Participating students are responsible for returning the empty backpack to their lockers on Monday morning so they can be collected and packed for redistribution on Friday. Prior to the initial delivery of the Hand2Hand bag, families are sent a letter of invitation from the ministry, which they can either accept or decline participation in the program.

Hand2Hand Ministries is supported through individual donations from participating church congregations, various groups and businesses within the community, as well as Hungry for Christ Ministry located in Hamilton, MI. Food items included in Hand2Hand backpacks are child friendly, nonperishable, and perferably vitamin fortified (boxed or canned food, granola bars, juice boxes, cheese and crackers, cereal, etc.) It is important to note that Hand2Hand is not meant to feed a family for the entire weekend, but it meant to provide supplemental food.

Some requested food donation items are as follows: Boxes of Cereal, Instant Oatmeal, Pancake Mix, Syrup - plastic containers, Fruit and Cereal Bars, Boxed Fruit Snacks, Snack Size Fruit Cups (4 ounces) - mandarin oranges, peaches, pears, applesauce, mixed fruit, etc, Canned Vegetables, Pop Tarts, Boxes or Bags of Crackers - Saltine, Club, Oyster, etc. Pudding or Jello Cups, Individually packaged crackers, cookies, pretzels, etc. Peanut Butter, Jam or Jelly - plastic containers, Hamburger Helper, Chicken Helper, Tuna Helper, Canned Meats - Chicken, Tuna, Ham, Spam, Vienna Sausages, Macaroni & Cheese, Canned Meals - Ravioli, Spaghettio's, etc., Popcorn, Stove Top Stuffing, Boxed Potatoes, Boxed Pizza Kits, and Canned Soup.

Please bring your items to Great Lakes Elementary on Saturday, November 22nd. There will be a Hand2Hand Ministries donation table in the cafeteria for you to place your donations on. This is a great way for us to give back to our community and especially the families of Great Lakes Elementary.
