Rocket Cheer Update

As we get ready for the start of the Rocket Cheer season we have a few items for you to be aware of.  They are as follows...

  • Concussion Form
    • A new concussion law was enacted as of June 30, 2013.  In short, each of our Rocket Cheerleaders must have filled out an official concussion form (along with th parents) before they can participate in this program.  To download a form go to, click the "Forms/Flyers/Policies" tab listed to the left of the Home Page, download the "Concussion Information Sheet", and have both you and the student participant sign off on it.  We will have a list of girls that need to have it signed the first day of practice, but please remember, it needs to be signed by both the participant and the parent.  If that doesn't happen the student will not be allowed to practice.  Please read over the concussion form and if you feel that you don’t want your child to be a part of this and don’t want to sign the form, we will give you a refund.
  • Pictures
    • We are tentively scheduled for Wednesday, September 25, at Woodside during practice
  • Practices/Games
    • We will begin practice next week, September 11th, at 4:30pm.  The practice will take place at Woodside Elementary from 4:30-5:30pm on September 11, 18, 25, October 2 & 9.  The first day is always a crazy one with putting the teams with the coaches.  Also, if you have not signed the concussion form, we will need you to get there by 4:15 to do so and that way we can get that out of the way.  A printed game schedule will be emailed out and handed out on the first day as well.
    • We will cheer on three Saturdays for Rocket Football games.  Those dates will be September 21, October 5, & October 12.  We will NOT cheer on September 28 due to West Ottawa having Homecoming activities that day.
    • We will have a pizza party at Macatawa Bay Middle School cafeteria on Wednesday, October 16 from 4:30-5:15pm.  We will then head to the varsity football field and cheer for the first half of the 8th grade game that begins around 5:30pm.
    • Our last game will be the West Ottawa Varsity football game on Friday, October 18. You will receive a free ticket to that game.  We will meet at halftime near the scoreboard, parade down the sideline as we are introduced by the PA announcer, and then we will stay and cheer for the third quarter with the varsity cheer team
