HOCKEY IN MIDDLETOWNMINUTES OF MEETING 1/21/09The meeting was called to order by President Bob Doyle at approximately 7:15pmMINUTES – Minutes from the 12/10/08 meeting were approved. Accepted by Sherry Dean and seconded by Rich Bumono.TREASURER’S REPORT – Tony DeCicco discussed report for Tom O’Donnell. Accepted by Barbara Vilanova and seconded by Jeanine Horowitz.APPLEBEE’S – We can no longer do car washes, however, Barbara Vilanova has printed fliers that during the month of March we can raise funds for HIM by anyone having dinner (4:00pm – closing) at Applebee’s, and presenting the flier. Ten percent will be donated to HIM. CORPORATE SPONSORS – This program generated the most money, as you can see by the program that is available for every game. Some sponsors come in mid-way and we will get them in the yearbook.MAYOR’S CUP – Buddy Haines and Neil Leone would like to get next year’s Mayor’s Cup at the practice rink at the Prudential Center and then after the game have everyone attend a Devil’s game. Motion to accept was by Barbara Vilanova and seconded by Jeanine Horowitz. This year’s Mayor’s Cup South had three seniors and North had 12 seniors. Should be a very good game. Between the gate and the clothes during this season, we have raised approximately $2000.SEASON UPDATE – We have nine games left at South and North’s season will either end Feb. 15th or 16. Shore Conference games will be played starting during February. PICTURES – Pictures from the varsity games have been posted on the website for both North and South. Thank you to Laura Wrensen, Mary O’Donnell,and Patty Doyle.JV SEASON – Will run to February 15th. The playoff’s will have four games with single elimination. The President’s Cup will be held on February 4th the festitivies start at 7:00pm and the game begins at 7:15pm. An MVP will be chosen after the game.CANNING – Will be held the day before the (January 31, 2009) Super Bowl. Pat DeCicco will handle for North and we have volunteers from South. The player’s will be called for their location to can as well as the time. They will be there for an hour.YEARBOOK – The committee met at Ellen DeMaio’s house and we have the book laidout. We are now waiting on baby pictures as well as action photos of the seniors.AWARDS NIGHT – An award night is held at each of the high school’s for all of the winter sports. This is where letters are handed out as well as pins. Then both North and South ice hockey teams have their own awards nights after that. $10 is spent on each player and $15 for each senior for their gifts.NEXT MEETING – We will discuss the Middle school clinic as well as the spring high school league and the booster clubs at both high school’s.Thursday, February 19, 2009 at 7:00pm at the Middletown Public Library. The meeting was adjourned at 8:45pm motioned by Abe Littenberg and seconded by Stan Malamut.
