MINUTES OF MEETING 10/29/07
HOCKEY IN MIDDLETOWNMINUTES OF MEETING 10/29/07The meeting we called to order by President George Felice at approximately 8:15. MINUTES – Minutes from the 9/25/07 meeting were approved. Accepted Jamie McLaughlin. This was an outstanding event and everyone enjoyed Gibbs Hall.Tom O’Donnell expressed concern that we should move some portion of the checking & money market since the money market and CDs become dormant over time and the checking account and money market earn little interest compared to CDs. A vote was taken and it was unanimous to move $50,000 from our checking account and part of that money would go into another CD. Steve Bodeker made a motion to approve this move and Chris Danish seconded.CORPORATE SPONSORSHIPS – We need corporate sponsorships to help defray costs.DINER DANCE – was a huge success and the committee chaired by Kim Saulnier and Janet Felice were congratulated by everyone in attendance. Everyone enjoyed themselves and Gibbs Hall was fantastic. A good time was had by all!SUPER 50/50 – the winner of the Super 50/50 was Walter Montaigne, he will receive a check for $5,000 and HIM will also receive $5,000.YEARBOOK COMMITTEE – Diana Waltz and Ellen DeMaio chair the committee – Diana asked for additional volunteers (mostly freshman and sophomores) to see how we do things and to continue the yearbook committee after we are gone. We did receive additional volunteers from both High School North and South and we will meet on Monday, November 12, 2007.JV AND VARSITY SCHEDULES – They are still a work in progress. Now that the coaches have been named at both CBA and St. John Vianney’s, times should be locked in shortly for all schools. We have to see how the schedule works out at the rink. Also some of the varsity home games start at 3:15pm, you will not get many students or parents from our school in attendance we will see if we can move that time back, may be difficult with 10 high schools playing at Wall. At the Varsity level there will be two games versus North and South, the second game will be the Mayor’s Cup. Mark Rosenbloom asked if the yearbook could be ready by the Mayor’s Cup.TRYOUTS – They will begin 11/15/07 – North has split the players into two sessions that Neil Leone broke down because they have approximately 44 kids trying out. South will begin their tryouts on 11/15/07 as well. MAKE CERTAIN PLAYERS HAVE ALL MEDICAL FORMS TURNED IN. THEY WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO TRYOUT. Once the tryouts are completed and the teams selected there will be a mandatory parent’s meeting that will be held after the teams are picked. The coaches are at these meetings and will be able to answer questions from the parents.MODELL’S FUND RAISER – we will hold this fund raiser again this year. 10% off anything in the store and HIM will receive 5% of all orders. It will be held the same time this year. Thanksgiving weekend thru December.DEVILS GAME FUND RAISER – this will be done jointly with MYAA. The school night will be on Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at 7:00pm in the new Prudential Center in Newark. The cost of the tickets will be $40. The game is the New Jersey Devils vs. the Boston Bruins. Phone numbers are on the final sheet.ALUMNI GAME – the game will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2007 from 5:00 – 7:00pm at Woodbridge. Mark Rosenbloom has already reserved the spot in Woodbridge and after the game the players with family will go to a private room where they will have pizza and soda and meet up with old friends. As our alumni grows, we may have to have three teams, however, that will be worked out.MEMBERSHIP – the price for a family membership for 2008 will remain at $25.00. Please be sure to renew your membership. Applications are available at the meetings.PHOTO FUND RAISER – there is a possibility that we will have a photo fund raiser this season. A photographer will take action photos during the games and they will be available for purchase. You will be able to pick your photos on line.UNIFORMS – They will have a one year guarantee. One of the thoughts was after the team has been selected, have the parents bring the players to Croydon Hall and have them sign out for the new uniforms.
