1. Who is eligible to play in the Hillsborough Little League?

Players must live within HLL's territorial boundaries in order to fully participate in our league. Our territory includes Hillsborough, San Mateo Park, Burlingame west of El Camino and Millbrae west of El Camino or north of Millbrae Avenue. Registration is based on residency, not school attended. The shaded areas on this map represent HLL's geographic boundaries; please note they are approximate. If you are unsure if you belong in HLL, please email hllbaseball@yahoo.com for clarification. HLL offers teams for boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 12.

2. How do I register my child?

Registration is held online from November 1 through January 15. Click here to register and here for more information.

3. How do I become a coach?

All coaches are appointed by the HLL President and the corresponding Division Director. Please email hllbaseball@yahoo.com to express your interest. You can also make a notation in the appropriate section of the registration form. Thanks!

4. How do I become an umpire?

HLL utilizes both adult and youth umpires for the Minors and Majors Division games. For the adult umpires who handle the plate for Majors games, we contract with the NCUA, Northern California Umpires Association, out of San Francisco.

We also have approximately 30 youth umpires ages 13-18 each season. In January/February, we recruit and train about 10 new umpires per year. The season begins in March and runs through early June. Our youth umpires also handle scoreboard duties at the Majors and Minors fields. There are nearly 400 assignments per year in total that are handled by our alumni. We attempt to accommodate each youth's schedule and most games are Mondays through Thursdays from 5-7 p.m. and Saturdays from 9-5 p.m.

We send out letters each January to all 13-year-olds that played in HLL as 12-year-olds. If interested, the teens must mail back the application and a committee selects the most mature, responsible and knowledgeable kids to be umpires. In the past few years, we have received about 25 applications for the 10 spots. We pay the kids between $15-25 per game and we expect them to treat this as a job, albeit hopefully a fun one!

If your son/daughter wishes to be considered for an umpire position and you do not receive a letter by the end of January, please email hllbaseball@yahoo.com.

5. How do I find out if a game is rained out?

Updates will be posted here before 2 p.m. on weekdays, 8 a.m. on Saturdays and 9 a.m. on Sundays.

6. When does the season start and end?

Practices begin in early February; the exact date depends on the division. Games start in early March and end in early June.

7. Where do the teams play?
