11's Reach Championship Game
On July 6, HLL's 11-year-old All-Star Team came back from a 12-4 deficit in the top of the sixth inning with the help of Jon Hall's three-run home run to tie San Carlos. They held this tough team in the bottom of the sixth and the game was suspended by darkness with a 12-12 score after six innings. The following day, Hillsborough won in the seventh inning as Timmy Lynch doubled and Alex Waldsmith homered. An hour later, Hillsborough battled hard but fell to defending champion Alpine Menlo in the Championship Game. Click here for the San Mateo Daily Journal's article. HLL had an incredible six-game run through the Losers' Bracket to advance to the final. This was an incredibly exciting tournament that highlighted the determination and talent of a great group of Hillsborough players and coaches. Congratulations!

11's Beat Foster City
Hillsborough's 11-year-old All-Stars beat Foster City, 6-3, on July 1 with outstanding pitching and some timely hitting. Alex Waldsmith pitched a gem, giving up only one hit in 5 1/3 innings pitched. He had the Foster City team off-balance all night with great location on his fastball and nasty off-speed stuff. He struck out 12 of the 21 batters he faced in the game. The game was a pitchers' duel for the first three innings with the only run coming in the second with Riley Krook on third and Nick Pratt on first, when Pratt's delayed steal of second allowed Krook to steal home and score the first run of the game. Hillsborough broke it open in the fourth when Timmy Lynch came through with a bases-loaded double that cleared the bases, scoring three runs. Waldsmith drove in Lynch, and Spencer Sinclair drove in Waldsmith to cap a five-run fourth inning for Hillsborough, which provided all the runs needed to secure the victory.

12-Year-Old All-Stars Defeat Redwood City National, 13-1
On June 27, Eric Whitfield homered and Ryan Kammuller added a grand slam as Hillsborough won its tournament opener. Ryan Ward pitched all four innings and recorded the victory. Their next game is against Redwood City National on Wednesday (July 1) at 7:30 p.m. at Belmont Field.
