August 5, 2010 Hillsborough Beacon ArticleThe Hillsborough Hurricanes Softball Organization had quite the season this year at all levels. The following are brief summaries of their triumphs:
The 12U gold team took 3rd place in the Hopewell Valley Bad Girls Classic, 2nd place in the Monroe Summer Classic, and were the Chambersburg, PA 12U Champions!! They also took a hard fought 3rd place in the Parkway Invitational Softball League. The girls on this team came a long way since the beginning of the season and ended it with their 1st place win in Pennsylvania.
The 12U red team took 3rd place in the Clark, NJ tournament. They had to beat the number 1 seed along the way to their finish. The team also finished their summer league season at an impressive .660. These girls just returned from a trip to Maryland on Sunday, August 1 for a fun weekend of softball.
The 14U red team took 2nd place in the Sid Lee tournament in South Brunswick and also took 2nd place in their summer league team in Montgomery. The coaches of this group of girls cannot rave enough about how hard they’ve worked and what a great group of players are on this team.
The 16U team took 2nd place in the USSSA World Series Qualifier tournament in Linden, NJ. This group of girls traveled to Cooperstown, NY to play in the inaugural games at Diamond Dreams, the new ballpark built just for softball. There were too many highlights of their season to list.
The 18U girls played tournaments every weekend of this summer. They have traveled to many different places and ended their season at the USSSA World Series in Ocean City, MD. This team brought themselves to the semifinals in almost every tournament they played in. This was a very talented group of girls that played their hardest all season long in many very competitive tournaments and had a lot of success to show for it.
