Hurricanes 14U Win Championship in Kingston, Massachusetts Invitational Softball Tournament
The Hillsborough Hurricanes 14U girls softball team capped off the 2007
season by winning the 3rd annual Kingston Invitational Softball Tournament in Kingston, Massachusetts with a tremendous team effort by every player.
The Hurricanes started their run with a 17-1 victory over Seacrest. Game 2 against the host team from Kingston was a 1-0 game through 4 innings until the Hurricane bats came alive to push the Hurricanes to a 6-1 win.
Game 3 the Hurricanes continued to show their NJ muscle by throwing a no hitter and the offense continued to as the Hurricanes cruised to a 14-0 win and the #1 seed for Sunday's Single elimination round.
The Hurricanes started the elimination round with a 12-0 win in 4 innings in the 1-8 game against Duxbury, Mass. The Semi Finals was a rematch of game 2 with Kingston and it proved to be the first of 2 of the most exciting games of the season. This game was back and forth till the last out with the Hurricanes holding on for a 4-3 win and trip to the championship game vs the # 2 seed Taunton.
The Championship game pitted the 1 seed vs. 2 seed. The Hurricanes came out a little flat and after 3 innings were down 5-1 trailing by more than a run for the first time in the tournament. The girls responded by tying the game in the 5th and winning the Championship in the bottom of the 7th via International tybreaker 6-5.
