Highlanders Little League and National Little League have partnered with Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) in a nationwide endeavor to make baseball a positive, character building experience for every athlete associated with HLL and RCNLL and to make the experience a more successful one for coaches, parents, fans and officials. Little League International has endorsed PCA every year since 2005.
Board Members will attend a leadership workshop. Coaches will be required to attend a coaching workshop and parents are asked to attend the parent workshop. Check the Calendar for dates and locations.

Highlanders Little League hopes that it's leaders, coaches and parents will further their knowledge about what it takes to create a youth sports culture where athletes thrive and develop a love for the game that lasts a lifetime. The key themes of Positive Coaching are:
- Honor the game- model and teach athletes to Honor the Game by setting high standards and demonstrating respect for Rules, Opponents, Officials, Teammates and one's Self.
- Redefine"Winner"- help players redefine what it means to be a"winner" by focusing on mastery of a skill rather than solely on the scoreboard. PCA refers to the "ELM Tree of Mastery" where E stands for Effort, L represents the importance of Learning and M is for bouncing back from Mistakes. Athletes that pursue mastery of their sport are one's that give 100% at every practice and game.
- Fill Emotional Tanks-fill players "Emotional Tanks" recognizing that athletes need to have full tanks in order to do their best. A Positive Coach strives to achieve the "Magic Ratio" of 5 praises for every criticism.
HLL and PCA will expand on the first of these 3 principles and will provide "tools" that coaches and parents can utilize right away to promote a baseball culture where everyone Honors the Game!
