Dec. 19-21, 2008
Hampton, VA
The CAWL Allstars wrestled in the 2008 Virginia Challenge on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 12/19 - 12/21 at the Boo Williams Sports Complex in Hampton Virginia. The tournament was a 16 team Dual meet broken up into (2) 8 team pools. The "CAWLSTARS" won 4 and lost 3 matches in their pool and finished in 4th place in the pool. That qualified them to wrestle in the Championship bracket against some of the best teams in the country including Michigan, PA Gold, PA Blue, NJ Lightning, NJ Allstars, and Georgia. In the Championship bracket, it was difficult to win as a team giving up 5 forfiets but the CAWL wrestlers got to wrestle some of the best in the country and they held there own finishing 8th at the tournament. It was a great experience and special thanks should be given to Gary Sanchez for behind the scenes organization and Ken Wolfe and Tony Neis for coaching the team. The following CAWLSTARS deserve recognition for their accomplishments:
