Attendance Policy
HHS Nordic Attendance Philosophy/Policy
This policy hopes to address two essential beliefs:
A. Success in any endeavor can only be achieved through consistent dedication to the task. In this case, Nordic skiing requires a high level of training to develop the physical and technical abilities to reach our individual and team potential. Hence, attendance at practice is critical to individual performance and team unity.
B. Life is not a simplistic affair and often involves multiple goals and interests. It is desirable to have students develop a multitude of skills and interests. However, the pursuit of too many goals will result in few of them being attained. Thus, it is necessary to make choices.
Attendance Policy
1. Nordic practice and meets will be a priority of all team members. Club activities and outside activities will, whenever possible, not conflict with attendance. Practice is not an option, it is a commitment to yourself and the team.
2. Individuals who need academic assistance will be excused from practice. However, every effort should first be made to schedule help at times that will not conflict with practice.
3. If an individual is involved in a, lifelong activity, which takes them away from practice no more than one day a week, this activity will be excused. However, we must first meet and come to a mutual understanding that the activity meets the criteria of lifelong and is not simply a choice. If a race conflicts with this activity the athlete will attend the race. Failure to do so will result in dismissal from the team.
4. Individuals who work must arrange their schedules around both practice and meets. Failure to do so will result in dismissal from the team.
5. Nordic skiers are not allowed to miss practice for Drivers Education.
6. Alpine skiers and jumpers must attend Nordic practice whenever it does not conflict with Alpine or Jumping.
7. Any skier with two unexcused absences will be dismissed from the team.
