HCTB Rainout Policies and Notes

The home team coach is responsible for assessing their field and initially determining its suitability for play. This should be done no later than 3 hours prior to game time.

If unplayable, the home team coach should investigate if the game can be moved to another field, including the opposing team's field, or rescheduled to another time or date.

HCUA must be notified 2 hours prior to game time of any changes - start time, location, or posteponement. Failure to provide notification at least 2 hours prior to game time may make the teams liable for a 1/2 fee cancellation fee! HCUA contact: Deb Schimming, ltlschim3@juno.com, 410-692-2778 home, 410-322-9707 mobile.

After arrival, the Umpire has ultimate authority for determining if a field is suitable for play, and their judgement is final. Cancellation fees may be assessed if in their judgement a good faith field assessment was not perfomed by the coach in a timely manner beforehand.

Your Age Group Comissioner and HCUA should be notified of all rescheduled games as soon as possible.

OUR MISSION...

ABOUT HCTB:

The Harford County Travel Baseball League is a distinguished baseball organization which operates in association with Harford County Parks and Recreation Councils. Our league facilitates, manages, and promotes regional youth baseball in Harford County and its surrounding region. HCTB’s goal during its more than 25 years of service has been to provide a league which permits the development of youth baseball players at the highest skill levels, while providing a home for those teams and players who wish to make a greater commitment the game of baseball. Baseball programs in the Upper Chesapeake Region interested in pursuing these same goals are welcomed and encouraged by HCTB to register and participate.

HCTB provides leagues for age group play from 8U to 14U, as well as 15-16U and 17-19U. Well known for the quality of play and dedication to consistent management, our Age Group Commissioners make the commitment each season to prepare a schedule that permits flexibility for member teams to pursue tournament play, as well as a generous number of league games (the season runs from the beginning of April to the end of June each year).

Which brings us to our regionally celebrated and wildly successful Upper Chesapeake Baseball Festival http://www.leaguelineup.com/ucbf which holds biannual baseball tournaments named the Spring and Summer Classics (in March and June). HCTB is committed to hosting the highest quality tournaments and to making participation a positive and memorable experience for all teams.

Our commitment to providing the most effective and beneficial baseball league has led to many cooperative relationships with other local and national organizations such as Ripken/Babe Ruth Baseball, Little League, MABA, BCML, MMTA and other independent baseball organizations. This commitment allows HCTB the flexibility to seek out cooperative efforts when it will benefit our member teams. Teams from HCTB have won state and regional titles and participate in national tournaments each year. Harford County provides the Host Team for the Ripken World Series annually hosted here in Harford County, Maryland.

As the President of HCTB, it is incumbent upon me to give special thanks to Perry Gentry and the late Jim Harding for all of the many years of volunteer service which these men donated to the game of baseball and the creation and development of HCTB. The foundation of this organization which these men have built for the youth of our Region is sturdy.  It has permitted great success in our past and gives us inspiration for the future of HCTB. A truism which has been said many times by baseball enthusiasts over the years is that baseball is a reflection of life itself. So many life lessons are the basis for our game. For the hundreds of volunteers and thousands of youth for which these gentlemen have given the opportunity to play ball and learn about life, and on behalf of HCTB, thank you Perry and Jim.

As always, I am available to answer any questions which you may have about our league and/or baseball in general. Please feel free to contact me at the email address below.

Sincerely for the game,

Ken Bogdan, HCTB President   hctbaseball@gmail.com
