The Hamilton Sparta 2003 Boys soccer team is dedicated to the development of young athletes and strives to nurture the physical, cognitive and social abilities of its players. The coaches are dedicated to the boys and their parents and aim to provide a highly competitive and safe learning environment. Each player also benefits from customized kinesiological assessments and performance screening conducted by McMaster University specialists (anthropometrics, flexibility, agility, aerobic capacity, anearobic power, muscular strength). The team trains and competes for 10 months of the year with breaks in April and October. Below is a brief summary of the team's previous seasons.

2010 Summer Season

The Hamilton Sparta 2003 Boys soccer team had a very successful 2010 summer season. We played in the U8 MJ League as a U7 team and finished mid-table in the standings which is a fine achievement. We competed in a total of six U8 tournaments (Oshawa, Scarborough, Whitby, Glanbrook, Thornhill and Hamilton) as an underage team, winning the Glanbrook tournament!

2011 Winter Season

The Hamilton Sparta 2003 Boys soccer team had a very successful 2011 winter season. We played in the U8 PolsonPier SoccerWorld Tournament and were crowned champions! We competed in the U9 (as under-aged U8s) OSA Snow Globe tournament and finished 3rd in our group. We competed in the U9 (as under-aged U8s) 1st Touch Players' Paradise tournament and finished as bronze finalists.  We competed in the Malvern Family Day tournament going undefeated in round-robin play and losing out in the semi-finals.

2011 Summer Season

The Hamilton Sparta 2003 Boys soccer team competed in the following 10 tournaments having won 8 of them: West Niagara U9 Provincial division (won the Championships as an underage U8 team), Oshawa Invitational (won the Championships going undefeated in all games), Unionville Challenge Cup (won the Championships going undefeated in all five games with 43 goals for and 0 against), Ancaster Heritage Days Tournament (finalists), West Rouge Challenge in Scarborough (won the Championships going undefeated in all five games with 48 goals for and 5 against), Mississauga Canadian Cup (finalists), Thornhill Challenge (won the Championships going undefeated in all six games with 27 goals for and 2 against), Unionville All-Star Tournament (won the Championships going undefeated in all five games with 21 goals for and 4 against), Hamilton Festitalia Tournament (won the Championships going undefeated in all five games with 18 goals for and 1 against) and the North Mississauga Tournament (won the Championship going undefeated in all six games with 18 goals for and 4 against).

2012 Winter Season

The Hamilton Sparta 2003 Boys soccer team won the BMO London Soccer Centre tournament winning all 7 games with 56 goals for and 1 against. We played in the U9 PolsonPier SoccerWorld Tournament and defended our championship title winning all 4 games with 11 goals for and 1 against. The team brought home their 3rd tournament victory of the indoor season by winning the Super Bowl Indoor Cup going undefeated with a goal scoring record of 12 goals for and 0 against. We went undefeated at the Scarborough National Malvern tournament losing in the championship finals in PKs. The team competed in the Downsview Park Youth Indoor Soccer League (at The Hangar) during the winter and finished as league finalists with 110 goals for and 24 goals against over 23 games.

2012 Summer Season

The Hamilton Sparta 2003 Boys soccer team won the SAAC Spring Challenge tournament winning all 5 games with 19 goals for and 1 against. The team went on to defend its championship title at the Scarborough Challenge going undefeated in all 5 games with 37 goals for and 5 against. The team also defended their title at the Unionville Challenge Cup (winning the tournament for the 3rd time). The boys paid tribute to their dads on Father's Day by winning the Walter Kirchner Tournament in Woodstock going undefeated in all 6 games with 44 goals for and 6 against. Hamilton Sparta 2003 was very proud to participate in the Robbie Tournament (in Scarborough) helping to raise funds for Cystic Fibrosis.  The team won the Brantford Classic Tournament going undefeated through six games with 25 goals for and 2 against. The team won the Unionville tournament going undefeated through five games with 43 goals for and 2 against. The team won the St. Catharines Grape & Wine tournament going undefeated through five games with 19 goals for and 2 against.

2013 Winter Season

The Hamilton Sparta 2003 Boys soccer team won the SAAC Fall Challenge tournament winning all 5 games with 18 goals for and 1 against. The team travelled to Orlando to compete in the international Disney President's Day tournament at the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex. Sparta returned with the championship trophy in the top gold division going undefeated in all 5 games with 28 goals for and 4 against. The team finished it's indoor season in first place (undefeated) at the Players Paradise Indoor Soccer League playing a year up. 

2013 Summer Season

The team continued its fine form over the summer and played a year up (U11) in several 9v9 tournaments to assist in the long-term development of its players.  Sparta went undefeated in capturing the Ancaster Heritage Days Tournament with 27 goals for and 0 against.

2014 Winter Season

The team competed in the U12 division (playing a year up) in the Players Paradise Indoor Soccer League and did extremely well as the boys continue to adjust with playing the 9v9 configuration.

2014 Summer Season

The team continued its long-term player development program towards elite level soccer.  It competed in Tier 1 of the Hamilton MJ League and completed the season undefeated.  The team also participated in a variety of local festivals (McMaster, Stoney Creek, Scarborough, Festitalia, Ancaster, Woodstock, Saltfleet).  The team continued its comprehensive fitness assessment and development program through McMaster University. The team concluded its season as champions of the Michigan Soccer Classic.

2015 Winter Season

The team competed in the U13 division (playing a year up) in the Players Paradise Indoor Soccer League.

2015 Summer Season

The team competed in the U12 division of the MJ League and finished with a perfect undefeated record.  The team also  participated in several festivals including McMaster, Festitalia, Ancaster, Saltfleet and Branford.

2016 Season

The team is looking for a handful of new players to participate in the 2016 season.

HEAD COACH: Dr. Nick Bontis has played soccer competitively for many years for such noteworthy clubs as Scarborough Maple Leaf, Scarborough Azzurri, London Portuguese, Dundas United and Hamilton Greek Olympic.  Throughout his career he amassed five Ontario Cups, and has won the leading goal scoring title in every league he has played.   He also played semi-professionally for London City in the Canadian Soccer League (CSL).  Nick was the leading goal scorer, and MVP as well as a provincial all-star while playing for the University of Western Ontario Mustangs for five years.  He has coached youth soccer for many years and has completed coaching courses in Canada and the USA.  He holds both the USSF National "B" and CSA Provincial "B" coaching licenses.  He currently plays for Schalke FC in the H&D Senior Premier Division and for Proto in the First Division of the Hamilton & District 035 Soccer League.  He is also Director of the Hamilton Soccer Hall of Fame and Hamilton Sports Hall of Fame.  He carried the Olympic Torch for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics in recognition of his coaching and volunteerism in sport.  In 2012, Dr. Bontis was elected to the Board of Directors for the Canadian Soccer Association.  He is also the Co-Chair of the 2015 PanAm sports organizing committee for soccer taking place in Hamilton.
