HAMILTON MENS FASTBALL LEAGUE Rules – 2008

1 The team roster must be in the hands of the league president by June 11, 2007. Failure to do so will result in a late fee of $20.00.

2 Each team’s roster is subject to the approval of the league executive.

3 Ineligible players will be subject to discipline by the league executive. Teams using ineligible players will forfeit all games that such player has played in.

4 Teams may add players to the roster after the June 11th deadline, subject to the approval of the league executive. However, no player(s) may be deleted to make room for additional players. The written request to add these players must be submitted to the League President before the July 1st deadline.

5 No player(s) are to be added to the team roster after July 1, 2007.

6 Each team is allowed to sign 17 players. The coaches on the roster (limit of 2) are only eligible to play if there are not enough players to field a team.

7 Players must play in 8 games to be eligible for the playoffs.

8 Rained out games will be played after end of regular schedule.

9 Games will be 7 innings. There is a time limit of 1 hours and 45 minutes. No new inning shall start after the time limit. In the event of a tie, the international tie-breaker will begin in the top of the 8th inning, play will continue until the time limit is reached and no new inning will start after the time limit.

10 If a game is cancelled for any reason other than a rainout, 48 hours notice must be given to the opposing team.

11 Teams forfeiting games at game on day of scheduled game will be fined $100 including the cost of the umpires!

12 Conflicts arising over cancelled games may be referred to the league executive who will then make a ruling regarding points and fines. The decision of the league executive will be final.

13 Each team is required to complete and submit a game report via email to the league stats secretary after each game. Please send to hmfl2008@hotmail.com A $10.00 fine will be imposed for each incomplete or unsubmitted game report. A completed report consists of: game#, opposing team MVP, including name and position played; date; regular or re-scheduled game; name of team sending in the report and details of any irregularities. When giving lineups to the opposing team please try and use correct first and last names.

14 Four point games are allowed as long as they are OK'ed by league executive 24 hours prior to scheduled game League Format - The league consists of 6 teams. The schedule consists of 25 games. League play begins May 12th, 2008 and will conclude August 18th , 2008. In the event of a tie in the standings the tie will be broken as follows: 1. Record against each other. 2. Team with the most wins. 3. Run differential in games against each other. 4. Run differential in overall league play. In all playoff games, the team with the higher number of points during the season will be the home team.

15 Umpires to be paid at ground rules in cash only (no cheques). If Umpires are more than 15 minutes late for a game, only half fees are to be paid.

16 Mercy Rule: League Games: 10 runs after 5 innings. League Tournament: 7 runs after 5 innings.

17 League Ejection Rule: If a player is ejected from a game and it is his first one he will only miss that game. In the event he is ejected again in another game the league will in turn suspend him for 4 more games. If it happens a third time the league will suspend the player for the remainder of the season and if in the last 5 games of the regular season or playoffs player will be suspended for the first 5 games next year.

18 The League has also adopted the ISC Pitching Rule. A pitcher may start with one foot on the rubber but once he goes into the pause the pivot foot is not to move. We have asked the umpires to call this rule by the book.

19 Teams will be allowed 3 courtesy runners which may be any player in the lineup. The same player may run all 3 times.

20 All other C.A.S.A. rules will be in effect.

A'S are out
The A's are out for the remainder of the season for not paying league fee's. A revised schedule is out and the year end tournament will still be played with a round robin format starting Friday Oct. 22nd, schedule to follow.
