Hamburg Little Loop Football & Cheerleading: HLL News & Info
Hamburg Little Loop Football and Cheerleading is a family oriented organization which is run entirely by volunteers - parents like you - who make the time to be involved.
Volunteering is a rewarding investment.
» Frequent contact with your children's teamates, their parents and coaches.
» Get first-hand updates on events.
»Access to activities that you may wish to improve upon.
» You become part of the organization - no longer just a by-stander.
Some volunteers devote a great deal of time - while others help out here and there whenever possible. HLL is striving for 100% parent participation. Without parent volunteers, this organization could not exist. We need YOU. Please See any Board Member to SIGN UP!!
Registration forms provide an area where you can let us know your interests. There will also be opportunities to sign up once the practice season begins. We strongly encourage your participation so HLL may continue to give our kids the best possible environment.
Kitchen/Snack Stand: We have one of the BEST snack stands around!! Our kitchen is open during all practices and home game days. Hot Dogs, Burgers, Chicken Fingers, Fries....you name it, we have it. Of course, our kitchen is only as good as the volunteers who work it. If you can flip a burger, pour a soda or just plain provide service with a smile, this is your cup of tea. It is conveniently situated in the hub of activity so you won't miss a thing. It is also nice and warm on those cool autumn days and dry when it's raining! We need to get started about 1/2 hour before practices & 1-1/2 hours before the first game on Saturdays when we play at home. We also need to clean up at night. Whether you are available on practice nights or just a couple hours on game days, your help is welcomed. For more information on how you can help us in the kitchen, please e-mail deby at kdlmk3@roadrunner.com or call 823-0312.
Coaching: If you've played football or were a cheerleader, this is the best way to share your knowledge with the kids. Being a child's coach is a rewarding experience because like a teacher, a coach leaves a lifelong impression on the children they guide. It may seem demanding, but what you get in return makes it all worthwhile. Experience in football, cheerleading or a related youth activity is preferred. Head Coaching positions are awarded annually to the most suitable volunteer candidate. Previous HLL coaching experience is key to be considered for a Head Coach position in football. Organization & ability to guide is essential for Cheer Head Coaches. If you would like to be considered for a Head Coach or Assistant position, please submit a letter to HLL stating your interest and qualifications. You will be contacted prior to the 2005 registration. Assistants are chosen by each Head Coach once that position is filled. If positions are still available after registration closes, we will post a notice on this site. Certification is necessary & is provided by HLL. All Coaches must be interviewed and must submit to a criminal background check.
Team Parent: This is for the dedicated volunteer. Team Parent must be available at all or most practice sessions. This is a liason position between Participants, Coaches & the Organization. Team Parent is responsible for team handouts - such as schedules, maps, informational bulletins, etc.; helping to organize the volunteer activity of parents, etc. Essentially, a team parent acts as an Assistant to the Coaching staff and Chief of the Fan Club.
Buildings & Grounds/Field Crew: If you love to work outside, use tools or ride a mower, this is the place for you. There is always something that needs fixing, mowing or maintenance. So if you're handy guy or gal, you'll be a welcome addition here. On game days, there is also field set up and closing. FIELD CREW helps set up the field for Games and/or helps closing down the field afterwards. A parking lot attendant is needed between games to supervise parking and to ensure clear entryways for emergency vehicles. Cleanup crews are also needed on gamedays between games and/or at the end of the day. This is a good choice if you only have game days available and do not want to miss out on the action.
Game Day Assistants: Here you are part of the action during our games. Whether you can do 1 game or all of them, this is your perfect place. CHAIN CREW: Volunteers from each team are needed during the games to man the chains and markers down on the field & up close to the action! You only need to be able to stand and hold the marker - and move out of the way if the play comes rushing toward you! ANNOUNCER: Are you a closet sports announcer who enjoys giving play by play action details? Well come on out of there and join us! We have an elevated spotters/announcer booth with a fantastic PA system for you to share your excitement for both teams with the crowd. STATISTICIAN: You keep stats for teams on game days. Electronically controlled scoreboard and play clock needs a human hand to keep it accurate. You get the birds eye view from the spotter's booth alongside your announcer.
50/50 Split Club: On game days, we load up our tickets and have fun. Become one with the crowd as you sell them a chance to win the coveted 50/50 money. 4 games are played on Saturdays, so 4 times the 50/50 jackpot is shared by a happy winner. Ticket strips must be counted & prepped Wednesdays or Fridays during practice.
Fundraising: From selling candy bars to selling ads & helping with bake sales to conjuring up items for our end of the year Chinese Auction, we need you. We get a majority of our operating funds through donations and sales, so if you enjoy the art of selling (even if you don't but are willing to try) we could use your help. Fresh ideas are always welcome too. We especially appreciate donations from members who own or manage their own business.
Photographs/ Yearbook: Not exactly the same thing, but we need the photos for the yearbook so they work hand in hand. If you are a camera buff and love to take pictures, we are looking for you. Each team, cheer and football, gets represented in our yearbook - but only if we have photos of them to put in there. Picture CDs are our media of choice but even if you have a few photos that you would like us to use, please pass them on. Turned in photos do not count for volunteer credit unless special arrangments are made for professional quality action photos.
Yearbook also involves fundraising - selling the ads that pay for the yearbook. We need a go-getter here. Some is done through the mail but to get an ad, we need to ask. If you own a business, we would appreciate your ad. If you are an employee, it would great if you asked your employer to place an ad. If you bring in a paid business ad 1/4 page or larger, you get a free or discounted patron ad. There's layout & computer design as well.
Assistance with Special Projects: Someone is always looking for help to do something. This is for you if you are not sure what you would like to do or if you can't commit to a date & time. There are various activities that take place at Hamburg Little Loop where your help is needed. Whether it's scooping ice cream on bon-fire night, pasting decals on helmets or manning the hot dogs on the outdoor grill for Parent Night, there's always lots to do. Please state your interest if you have a preference. Please see any Board Member or Coach.
Many times our regular volunteers would greatly appreciate a helping hand. If you see an activity where you feel that you could help out, please introduce yourself and offer your help. Just one extra pair of hands can make a huge difference.
Board Member: We welcome your interest and involvement. Openings for new Board Members arise when a current member resigns or their term has expired. The candidate most qualified for a position is usually already involved in HLL activities and displays responsibility & commitment. Becoming an active volunteer is the surest way to become part of our team & ensure that HLL continues to be one of the best youth sports organizations in Erie County. A Notice seeking Nominees is posted at the Field House when a position becomes available and must be filled. A candidate must be a member of HLL for at least 1 year to be eligible for an Officer position.
