Tournament Hosting Criteria
Tournament Checklist for Districts AND States
High quality field conditions
  - 240' ft. for 12-U 50-70 tournaments
  - 200' min. fence for 11-U and 12-U
  - 175' min. for 10-U and 9-U
Minimum of 2 fields available---Do not need to be next to one another

Adequete facilities
   - restroom
   - concessions operation
   - Ability to control entrance to venue so $$ can be made by
hosting league on admission sales---This can be done by "Gate" or parking fees.

Other Tournament requirement Information
   - Basic Tournament Book or brochure produced for fans (can be sold).
   - Adequete volunteer staff to help run tournament
(field groomers, concession and ticket staff, parking staff, 50-50 raffle
      sellers. Tee shirt sales, etc.)

   - Host team will supply umpires -- Ripken Organization will help in this part
     with organization, scheduling, etc.

   - Trophies and/or awards will be supplied by host.

--Things required at State Tournament but can be optional at District Tournamrent--
-Availability of nearby moderately priced hotel rooms.
  A host hotel--Preferably a Marriott affiliate--Not absolutely necessary,
but Marriott does provide $$ to local leagues for being used as "official" hotel.

- At State Tournaments, host league will cover cost of lodging (no food) for State
Commissioner and an assitant if necessary---No more than 6 nights maximum in TOTAL.
Often the host hotel will absorb this as part of the consideration for being named
  host hotel.

- Commemorative Tee shirt will be provided to each player on each team for state
  tournaments.

- An events competition for players at state tournament level. This is usually a
  part of opening ceremonies.

- A complimentary "meal" will be provided for each player and coach of teams at the
  state tournament level.

Tournament Fee Charges
  - No tournament fee will be charged for district tournaments to the State Org.
  - State Tournament Fees are as follows:
9-U and 10-U ---Host team will pay $500 to State Organization
11-U and 12-U ---Host team will pay $600 to State Organization
**Note** most likely 12-U 50-70 will be a lower fee in 2007, because of
this is the first year for this part of the program

  - An entry fee of $ 125.00 will be charged to each participating team to help
offset umpire costs ($ 1,000.00 not including “Host”)

  - A buyout/penalty of $ 200.00 will be charged to any team not participating in
the “Event” portion of the tournament

Bracket Seeding

The State Host District will be seeded according to local District finish. If the host chooses not to participate in the local District tournament, it will automatically be place in Game # 1

The other Game # 1 participant will be rotated on a yearly basis from each district.

Year 1 District # 1 2007
Year 2 District # 4 2008
Year 3 District # 3 / District # 2
Year 4 District # 3 / District # 2

Games # 2 – 5 will have a # 1 seed each with the opposing team not from the same District

Home team determined by coin flip on games # 1-15 and # 17
Game # 16 - Home team is winner of Game # 13 (Winners bracket)
