Purpose of this Page
This page was set up as a reference page for parents dealing with young athletes in today's world. In today's world as a parent we sometimes feel we are moving at the speed of light. The work place is demanding more of you. Our kids appear to be moving just as fast, the demands of parenthood are as much or even more than the work place. We all need an outlet and sports helps gives us that outlet. It could be that you participate or just enjoy watching sports. However we need to remember our kids are just that, kids. They are not adults and our demands or expectations should not be the same as society has placed on us as parents. We sometimes forget that they are just kids while we are watching them play. It's hard not to be caught up in the moment while your watching them, but try to remember they are kids. Below is a small poem called "The Little Boy". The Little Boy He’s Just a Little Boy He stands at the plate with his heart pounding fast; The bases are loaded; the die has been cast. Mom and Dad cannot help him; he stands all alone. A hit at this moment will send the team home. The ball nears the plate; he swings and he misses. There’s a groan from the crowd, with some boos and hisses. A thoughtless voice cries, "Strike out the kid!" Tears fill his eyes; the game is no longer fun. Remember – he’s just a little boy who stands all alone. So open your heart and give him a break. For it’s moments like this, a man you can make. Keep this in mind when you hear someone forget. Sports Parents Website
