Royals defend against Huskies

The West Island Royals travelled to Granby to battle the Lakeshore Panthers and Huskies de Cantons l'est on the weekend emerging with two ties in tournament play. Saturday saw the Royals lock horns with the Panthers resulting in a 1-1 draw. West Island out-chanced the Panthers but were unable to find the back of the net until the 11:03 mark of the third period when Ireland Kronlov backhanded a rebound past the Lakeshore netminder. Andrew Racine and Kristopher Shelton assisted on the goal. Nicholas Joron earned the tie. In Sunday action the Royals jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period over the Huskies and led 3-1 entering the third. The Huskies answered with 2 goals in the final frame, the final goal scored with 1 minute to play. Chris Vlahos, Philipe Bourassa and Justin Villeneuve scored a goal each with Sam Dopud, David Montgomery, Andrew Nolan and Ryan Ziadie adding assists. Daniel Curl had the tie in nets.
