Royals Crush Pirates
lamarre
Lamarre puts one by the sprawling Pirate netminder
The West Island Royals closed out the regular season in convincing fashion with a 6-0 thumping of the DDO Pirates.  With three players missing and in-game injuries, the Royals pulled together in a consummate team effort.  West Island opened the scoring 4 minutes into the first frame and then scored again 33 seconds later to gain the momentum.  They never looked back with 3 goals in the first, 2 in the second and a game capper in the third period.  Nicholas Joron was doing his impression of the Great Wall, turning away all DDO chances. His shutout was highlighted by a point blank glove save that not only robbed the shooter but also the Pirates of any chance to get on the scoreboard.  David Montgomery had 2 goals and an assist.  Charles Lamarre had 1 goal and 2 assists.  Philippe Bourassa and Justin Villeneuve had 1 goal and an assist each. Michael Kelly added a goal with Matt Bytalan, Chris Vlahos and Ireland Kronlov tallying an assist each.

Curl robs Gladiateurs
The second game of the home and home series with the Gladiateurs was a hard fought , penalty ridden affair ending with the teams deadlocked at 1 -1.  The Royals took 15 penalties to 10 for Vaudreuil impacting the flow of the game considerably.  The Royals opened the scoring at the 14 minute mark when Chris Vlahos side-stepped two defensemen that were both trying for the open ice hit at centre ice. Vlahos broke in alone putting a shot over the shoulder of the Gladiateur goalie.  It would remain the only marker as Vaudreuil answered back seven minutes into the second. The Royals found themselves shorthanded for much of the game and were out shot 27-20.  Daniel Curl turned in a very solid game turning away 26 of 27 shots.

Chris Vlahos opened the scoring and netted the winning goal as part of a 3 goal night. Ireland Kronlov notched the tri-fecta of 3 assists.  Andrew Nolan rounded out the scoring with David Montgomery assisting.  Nicholas Joron made a couple key stops late to preserve the win.  West Island out shot the Panthers 24-17.

Thanksgiving Feast or Famine..or was it Famine then Feast?

The Royals split their Thanksgiving weekend games dropping their Saturday match with Ouragans Versant-Ouest 5-3 and rebounding Sunday to drop the Barracudas Deux Rives 4-1.

West Island out-shot the Ouragans 24-18. The Royals were down 2-0 at the end of the first but battled back to tie it at 2 at the 5:38 mark of the second.  Ouragans answered with their third goal less  than a minute later and added another to lead 4-2 heading into the third.  Ireland Kronlov scored 15 seconds into the third but that was a close as it got with Versant-Ouest adding an insurance goal to win 5-3.  Ireland Kronlov had one goal and an assist, Kristofer Shelton added two assists.  David Montgomery and Max Cardilli tallied a goal a piece with Andrew Racine, Sam Dopud and Philipe Bourassa chipping in assists.

The Royals  anxious to get home for a Thanksgiving feast on Sunday, began with an appetizer of fresh Barracuda.  West Island dominated the Barracudas, out shooting them 35-12 enroute to a 4-1 victory.  The only chances Deux Rives saw were on man-advantage situations. Andrew Racine netted two goals.  Ireland Kronlov and David Montgomery added their own markers with Chris Vlahos, Chris Carriere, Max Cardilli, Charles Lamarre and Philipe Bourassa setting the table.

Royals Rock Gouverneurs!
The Royals made the long trek to St-Polycarpe to face the Gouverneurs Soulanges and were not to be denied a win. West Island opended the scoring on the second shift of the game at 1:17 of the first.  The Royals scored 3 more times in the first period and added 2 in the second on route to a 6-0 victory.  David Montgomery had a goal and two assists.  Justin Villeneuve had two goals and one assist. Andrew Nolan and Ireland Kronlov had a goal and an assist each.  Andrew Racine tallied two assists. Philipe Bourassa rounded out the scoring with Ryan Ziadie, Max Cardilli, Sam Dopud, Charles Lamarre and Kristofer Shelton chipping in an assist each. Daniel Curl preserved the shutout with a couple timely saves. The game may have been even more lopsided had West Island not provided Soulanges with nine powerplay opportunities.  The penalty kill units nullified any attempt for the Gouverneurs to rally.
