Who we are!

The LadyHawks are the Hockessin Soccer Club's (HSC) U-12 girls Academy team for the 2008-2009 year.  HSC created the Academy Program in 2007, which addresses the club, team, and player needs for a higher level of play.  This includes a higher level of training and better surfaces to train on to help the team and players reach their fullest potential.  Our team trains essentially year-round on turf, grass, and indoors to prepare the girls to develop technique, teamwork, leaderships and friendships that will serve them well in sport and in life endeavors.  Each girl is trained as an individual and to improve her individual skills, but in a team environment.  A variety of high-level competition from league play, tournaments, and other activities are designed to offer different experiences and opponents.  This does include occasional overnight trips in other states, and the team plans on travelling to Europe after the U-14 season in 2011.  Players and parents are also involved in various fundraising activities throughout the year to support team activities as well as in various community outreach activities supporting local charitable organizations.

NEWS!  

July 2-6 - The LadyHawks earned a bronze medal at the USYS Region 1 Natonal Championship Series in Barboursville, WV after exciting pool play which inlcuded a 2-1 win over New Hampshire, a 5-1 win over West Virginia, A 0-2 loss to PA East HMMS, and a tibreaker 4-3 win in FIFA penalty kicks over Connecticut.  The LadyHawks lost 4-1 in the semi-final game against eventual champion, PA East Spirit United. http://www.region1.com/NatlChamp/Schedules/U12G.htm

June 20-21 - The LadyHawks salvaged a wet weekend at the JAGS Invitational Tournament http://www.jagsassn.org with a 1-2 record against higher ranked opponents.  The highlights were a tight 1-2 loss against the highly ranked Montclair Colchesters and an exciting 4-3 win against against the Freeehold Wildcats.     

May 16-31 - LadyHawks win Delaware U12 11v11State Cup championship! - After an undefeated preliminary round, the LadyHawks overcame a frustrating 0-0 draw in regulation and in overtime against CDSA Riptide during the championship match, but pulled through during FIFA penalty kicks with a 4-1 edge. http://www.soccerincollege.com/TTIntro.aspx?tid=statede&tab=1

April 24-25 - Quakertown Invitational Soccer Tournament U12G - The LadyHawks went 4-0 in dominant fashion scoring 14 goals and conceding none in winning the top division in 90+ degree heat. http://www.quakertownsoccerclub.net/home/default.asp

April 17 - Several LadyHawks volunteered as "Team Buddies" for the HSC TOPSoccer program designed to bring the opportunity of learning and playing soccer to any boys and girls with a cognitive or physical disability.  

March 28 - Hockessin Spring Classic (U12G) http://www.hockessinsoccerclub.com/ - Mixed results (1-1-1 record) with several players ill, injured, or unavailable. 

March 21-22 - Jefferson Cup in Richmond, VA (U12G Superior Division) - One tie and two close losses in the LadyHawks first visit to the 4th ranked girls tournament in the country.  http://www.strikerstournaments.com/jeffcupmain.htm

March 7 - Outdoor kickoff at HMMS Friendly's vs HMMS Super Eagles (L 0-3) & Baltimore Bays Ginga (W 1-0).  

February 21 - The LadyHawks went 4-0 to win the U12G YSC Indoor Tournament, scoring 20 goals and allowing 1.  This was a defense of last year's championship. 

February 14 - The LadyHawks went 3-1 and were repeat finalists in the U12G MSA Valentine's Indoor Tournament scoring 11 goals and allowing 4.

November 1 - The LadyHawks volunteered as "Team Buddies" for the HSC TOPSoccer program designed to bring the opportunity of learning and playing soccer to any boys and girls with a cognitive or physical disability. 

September 27 - The LadyHawks helped out at the Family Fun day at the Hockessin Montessori School.  The girls organized soccer skills games, and provided medals and awards to many excited future soccer players.

August 24 - The LadyHawks went 4-0-0 to win the 12-team Elite division of the Spirit United Kickoff Classic in Downingtown, PA.  The eight different girls scored 10 goals and only conceded 2 goals while posting 2 shutouts. 

August 14 - The LadyHawks collected nearly 2 tons of food (1,786 pounds) for the Food Bank of Delaware which was delivered on the last day of their pre-season trainning camp (see photo at bottom of this web page).  Congratulations girls for a fantastic job at giving back to your community!
