ATTN: SCOUTS!!!
Boys Scouts - Need Eagle Scout Projects??????
Little League could use your help. We have field work that could qualify for your Eagle Scout project. This fall, work could be done at any of the 5 Bitterroot Fields or even Crow Field. Foul lines, warning track, trees/shrubs, another batting cage, or even picnic shelter next to the concession stands are all ideas for great use. Contact Tim Felchle at 256-8228 or Rick DeVore at 661-1085 for additional information. This is a win-win situation for both LL and the Scouts.

Centennial Park Construction Update
Construction on the new full sized baseball field at Centennial Park has begun. CMG Construction has re-graded the area, creating a new storm retention pond and bringing the new field up to grade. The weather is now interferring with our construction. During the week of October 12, Great Plains Fencing will begin installing the foul line and outfield fencing. Hopefully, we can get the backstop and dugouts in the ground this fall. Cosntruction on this phase is scheduled for the week of October 19 or 26th.
The field is being funded in part from a $99,000 grant from Baseball Tomorrow Fund, a division of Major League baseball. Private donations and Little League funds are also being used in the project. If you or your company would like to contribute to this project, donations would be greatly appreciated. Coantct Rick DeVore at 656-9239 or 661-1085 (cell) for additional information.

TBALL FIELDS CONSTRUCTED...........and Look GREAT
|
In 2009, HNLL was informed that the temporary T-ball fields needed to be removed due to selling of the property, which is currently unerway on Wicks Lane. Therefore, HNLL and Hope United Methodist Church have agree to place the T-ball fields on the outfield of the previous Senior Boys field, which sits adjacent to the church parking lot.
The construction has been completed. Thanks for the volunteers that showed up.
Anyone with further information on continuous work, is urgently asked to call Liv Nafts at 248-9246.

Sponsorships
Heights National would like to thank all the sponsors for the 2009 season, new and old. Thanks for your continued support for the youth in the Heights community during the regular season and tournament times.
We introduced a new option for sponsors in 2008 and had a great response. The league gave businesses the option to have a 3.5' x 8' corrugated vinyl sign to be hung at any of the local baseball or softball fields. Signs will be saved for future years to come. It was a great response and much more committed business than expected. Thanks to everyone who bought a sign, and if continued signs are always need. Anyone who wants to sponsor a sign and/or a team for the upcoming season(s), please contact Scott Felchle.
Contact Scott Felchle if you have any questions about sponsoring @ sfelchle@bresnan.net or click on Handouts above for further information and the correct form(s).

Attention Player Agents!!!
Heights Fields NEED to be Maintained.......
Our league is reaching out to parents and volunteers to help benefit better fields for our kids in the upcoming off-season and the 2010 season. Check your fields ASAP, write down any repairs you want done, and bring to the next board meeting. This way we can improve the maintanence. Plan your work parties as soon as possible. Better in the fall to take care of this problem, and before the snow flies, so we are not in "crunch" time before Opening Day in 2010.
The EVIL Goatheads are on the progress of becoming the little pests all over our fields at Clevenger and Bitterroot. So, lets get those under control as soon as possible!!!! Player Agents, call coaches up and get some parties working on getting them "GONE!" I want to send out a huge applaud to Red Atkeison for controlling the much needed thorns and goatheads over at Bitterroot. He is now known as the "Goathead King." Thanks Red. Keep it up!

2008 Tournament of Champions and All-Stars
![]() | |
| 9-10 TOC CHAMPS!!! |
Congratulations to the 2008 Tournament of Champions of Coke from the 9-10 Girls Softball!!!!
The championship victory came when the Coke shut out a team from Boulder Arrowhead Big Sky Little League, 7-0.
"We win as a team, and we lose as a team," said coach Garth Quade. "This year our pitching and defense came together well to keep the other team from scoring."
The girls on the team improved immensely over the three months of the season, Quade said.
"It was incredible, especially considering there were three girls who never played ball before," he said.

Quade added that, at the beginning of the year, the team's hitting and fielding skills were not that strong, but the older girls really helped out and got the younger girls up to speed.
"The winning and losing takes care of itself. The real reward is seeing the improvement throughout the season." he said.
Congratulations to the 10-11 Year Old Boys for winning the District/State Championship on July 16th against Boulder Arrowhead, 4-3. The Heights came back to score 3 in the bottom of the 6th to knock off Boulder. Way to go Boys!
The 9-10 Girls fell a little short against BABS to advance and host the State Championship, losing a best of 5 series, 3 games to 1. We're proud of you girls!
The 9-10 Boys placed 2nd in the District 1 Tournament losing to Boulder Arrowhead, 3 - 1.
The 11-12 Girls also took 2nd place losing to a tough BABS team.
The 11-12 Boys fell a little short and finished 3rd place in the District Tournament.
The Junior Boys will be playing in the Championship July 18 to advance to the State Tournament at District 2's site.
The Senior Boys as well fell a little short taking 3rd place in the District 1 tournament. We are proud of all our Heights All Stars!

How You Can Help in This Time of Need
September 18, 2008
Many of you have contacted Little League and asked, "What can we do to assist the children and communities affected by the recent storms?" While there are still many humanitarian and other types of assistance pouring into these areas, one way you can assist is to reach out to communities in that region that are part of the Little League family.
Since 2005, Little League Baseball and Softball has partnered with a non profit youth baseball and softball charity called Pitch In For Baseball® (www.pitchinforbaseball.org) to coordinate our response to members of the Little League family needing assistance.
Pitch In For Baseball (PIFB) is the central organization for the collection and redistribution of new and gently used youth baseball and softball equipment. In the last three years PIFB has provided much-needed donations of equipment and uniforms to programs and communities all around the U.S. and the world that have faced unforeseen and sometimes tragic circumstances.
How you can help
You and your league can help in one of two ways. First, you can make a donation of uniforms and/or equipment. Pitch In For Baseball is collecting new or gently used youth baseball and softball gloves, catcher’s mitts, catcher’s gear, batting helmets, base sets, batting tees, uniform sets, rubber cleats and bats. New baseballs also are needed. A "gently used" item is defined by PIFB as one that does not need repair in order to be used. It is an item you would feel comfortable giving to a family member, friend or neighbor as a hand me down. You will be responsible for the cost of shipping donated equipment to Pitch In For Baseball.
Donations of equipment can be sent to:
Pitch In For Baseball
1901 Pennsylvania Avenue
Fort Washington, PA 19034
However, the fastest way to make an impact in this situation is to make a monetary donation. Prior donations of equipment are already on hand at the Pitch In For Baseball warehouse. Financial contributions will help offset the costs of warehousing and shipping these items to recipient communities/leagues. It costs approximately $1,000 to sponsor a shipment of equipment and uniforms to a community in need, however donations of any size are greatly appreciated. Contributions are fully tax deductible and can made be via credit card directly through the PIFB website at www.active.com/donate/pifb.
If you are making monetary contributions by check, please make it out to "Pitch In For Baseball." Make sure to include your name and address with any contribution so that PIFB can give you/your league proper recognition and any receipts needed for tax purposes.
Checks are to be mailed to:
Pitch In For Baseball-Donations
719 Locust Lane
Ambler, PA 19002
We encourage you to forward this announcement along to families in your local Little League organization so that they also can participate in this worthy effort. Questions about the program can be directed to Pitch In For Baseball’s Executive Director, David Rhode. Mr. Rhode can be reached via email at: drhode@pitchinforbaseball.org; or by calling 215-371-2841

VOLUNTEERS!!!!
As always, we need your help in volunteering in some capacity. Without you as parent(s), coaches, umpires, fundraisers, and groundskeepers, we could not have the quality program we have here in Billings. So do your part and sign up for some activity when you go to registration. Your help is always appreciated by Heights National and District as well.

Local leagues must complete an annual screening process prior to the individual assuming his/her duties for the current season. This would include the individual submitting a completed volunteer application and the league completing an appropriate background check. The applicant must also submit a government issued photo ID, usually a driver’s license, in order for the league to verify that the information on his/her volunteer application is correct, i.e. spelling of name, address, date of birth, etc.
EFFECTIVE 2007, the local league must conduct a nationwide search that contains the applicable government sex offender registry data.
